First off, why on earth are you trying to passive tank it? It's NOT a Drake.
Secondly, hows your skills?
Take a look at some of the Ravensetups posted aroud the boards. You'll notice a few differences.

Only 3 Things wrong with your setup.
All the mids All the lows All the rigs.
Also, tech I cruise launchers with no damage mods? You're doing less DPS than a caracal.

Stock-standard Raven setup if there ever was one:
High slots: 6 x Cruise 2 x Whatever
Med slots: 1 x XL Shield booster 1 x Shield Boost Amp 4 x Rat-specific Hardeners
Low slots: 3 x Ballistic Controls 2 x Power Diagnostic Systems
If you want to run missions a little faster when you're stuck with acceleration gates at 90km away, swap out the shield boost amp for an afterburner.
There's really nothing more to it than that.

I see this fit mentioned too :
6x cruise launcher 2x whatever fits
1x XL shield booster 1x shield boost amp 3x hardeners 1x cap recharger
3x ballistic control 2x power diagnostic
3x CCC rigs
Use T2 or better mods, may not be cap stable or even fit on your ship depending on skills.
Not responsible for losses. ;)

The cap recharger is unnecessary on a setup like that with 3 CCC's and 2 PDS's. You're much better off with another hardener depending on the mission, or a sensor booster, etc.
A good rule for any shield tanker is that fitting cap rechargers are a waste of precious med slots.

Any of the above setups with XL boosters should work fine. The problem is all in your fitting. |

if you want a raven setup, that's gonna have little more room for manouvering, when it comes to cap, fit something like this:
High: 6x arbalest or tech2 cruise launchers 2x Heavy Diminishing NoS
Mid: X-Large Shield booster, best named, tech2 or faction heavy electrochemical or tech2 cap booster 4x rat specific hardener
low: you're probably gonna need atleast 3 power diags to fit all that in, maybe 4 or 5 if you have really crappy fitting skills, anyway, fit as many power diags as you need to make all the other stuff fit, and fill all the free low slots with ballistic control II's
rigs:
3x CCC
it ain't the highest dps raven fit out there, but you WON'T lose it on a mission

I think the raven is quite skill intensive, personally i run lvl 4s in a drake or a maelstrom, takes a while tbh but ravens are dpsy but the tank is hard to set up if you don't know how

My exact fit. Just solo'd level 4 Massive Attack, no warp outs.
My 2x whatever in the highs are 200mm railguns with antimatter M loaded, although for two-manning higher quality missions I swap one for a large shield transfer, one of my PDU for a Co-pro, and could probably swap the other for a tractor beam if I wanted to (I don't; I don't loot my 4s x.x)

Cap boosters are hardly a bad idea on an active shield tank. Sure, you've got to deal with big heavy cap charges, but it enables you to survive MUCH higher peak damage, because you can run your shield booster as much as you want if things get hairy. It's more effective than a cap recharger, THAT's for sure! Ugh.

Have you even tried one? Without a gist booster I think the cap booster is pretty much needed. My main has maxed cap skills also..
I'll try 4 hardeners but I doubt it'll work as good. Though you never know..

QFT, half-assed fit at best. What gave you the idea to use the worst cruise launchers in the game? BTW if your missile skills suck, don't bother with the raven for now. --- I am violence boat

Edited by: Alitha Maru on 11/12/2007 08:54:24 Of course you can passive tank a Raven, here is one setup that I have used to do all Serpentis lvl 4 missions before:
High: 6x Cruise II 2x Whatever is your flavour
Med: 2x LSE 2x Heat Field II 2x Ballistic Field II
Low: 2x BCU II 3x SPR II
Rigs: 3x Purgers
Of course also skills and implants affects this setup, just as anyone elses. But for me, it works great.
I can do a pretty standard boosted set-up too if you like:
High: 6x Cruise II 2x Whatever is your flavour
Med: X-Large SB II SBA II Cap Recharger II Heat Field II Ballistic Field II Invul Field II
Low: 2x BCU 2x CPR II 1x CFC II
Rigs: 3x CCC
Both ships, for me, do 518 dps with drones, 390 with missiles only.
Point is, these two ships are different yet the same. They can both tank just as much damage. Active, and passive. I have personally used them both.
There is no 1 set-up to rule them all, and if there was it would be pretty boring. Ships can be set up any number of ways, and different for each mission too. Just have fun, it's a game and it's not about conformity.
EDIT: Oh, the active setup runs forever for me. With the right, not expensive at all, +3% implants.

I'm not sure whether to laugh my arse off or just cry for you. An active setup, with SBA at that (which isn't mandatory at all) nerfed with capacitor power relays.. Good god!

You just proved my point really. Everyone that thinks that a ship only has one, or few, possible setups always does. Point is, as long as a setup works....it works.
Of course I have better setups, I have faction mods up the wazoo if I want to. But the point here was to demonstrate that there really is no recipe for any ship as it can have a variety of setup that works.

I think what he's trying to say, very correctly, is that fitting a mod which undoes the value of another mod in a setup has a net effect of wasting some or all of the full the potential of both module slots'. In other words, CPRs on an active boosted setup are a bad, bad, idea. Yes its still functional, but has a decreased tanking effectiveness over some of the more common fits.

In that case, and thank you for answering in polite and constructive terms. I am at work, so I can't fiddle about with setups.
But iirc I made it so I could perma-run the booster and thus had to use CPR to make it do so. And since the tank was enough for the missions anyhow I just let it go.
