Edited by: Nodnol 178Selim on 12/12/2007 11:03:48 I'd like to kill the noob help chat window but it keeps coming back when I log in.
Anyone know how to make it go away for good?

It'll stop popping up after 30 days, that's the only way I know to permanently get rid of it.

open your EVE settings file (C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\settings\prefs.ini) and set "newbie=0", the entry probably says "newbie=1" which marks you as a new player.

The last tip might be a breach of the EULA as you are not allowed to modify the client in any way.
I'd say, just wait 30 days, close it, forget about it.

Thanks all. I'm not far off 30 days I'd guess, so that's good it will go soon.
Do some people get special dispensation to stay in there permanently? Or how do the new players get advice from the old guard?
(I'm a 3 year old's alt on a Power Of Two account by the way).

Editing pref.ini is not modifying the client. The whole point of having the pref.ini is to have a place to store settings that are not practical to build into the client but can still be changable by the user. You last statement answered your question.
Older players will sometimes create new accounts, and will help out during those first thirty days. Some even go so far as to create trial accounts just so that they can help out. A masicistic few will go so far as to sign up for ISD and volunteer to take shifts in Rookie Help.
