Yeah we have gone through all that, had all the swap ISP comments etc,we know what the problem is, no need for any more speculation at long last, have stood our ground, and are finally getting something done. They need feedback now to see if it's working. Thanks

Originally by: Raine Albus Im on tiscali and never had any issues connecting to EVE for nearly 2 years now.
Dial up is not affected.
Yes we are starting to hear Virgin is testing it's traffic shaping software. It is worth finding out who owns the ISP you are moving to, Tiscali has aquired quite a few this year.

So all who say they are not working, have you gone to the Tiscali support link above and told them, if not why not

I notice SL They have already said it's their shaping software in the support thread and it's bundling ours in the same with p2p, they know what the problem is, they are now trying to unthrottle Eve packets.

Edited by: Snaith on 12/12/2007 21:53:35 I just tried pingplotter and the port is wide open to Eve, so the fix to their shaping software is not working.

Please report any drops tonight on the posted link.
Seems the fix didn't work, but we still need the pressure on Tiscali.

Agreed. Whilst I see your logic in taking a stand, Snaith, it could also be sending a message to tiscali that they can treat their customers like dirt and we will still pay for it. At the end of the day it's all about money. Until the cost of loosing customers outweighs the cost of fixing the problem nothing will be done.
The voting with feet was tried 12 months ago with Tiscali, all that happened was they let Tiscali off the hook, nothing changed, the voters were instantly forgotten, and we know Eve is losing people to this problem.
We also have other ISPs now introducing the same system, and why not Tiscali gets away with it so why can't they.
So it will come to the point that it is the norm rather than an exception. We have people in contracts that can't leave, see other posts on Tiscalis T & Cs.
Don't forget that it does not just affect Eve, how many people think their consoles don't work online because the game won't connect, they don't have an easy way of checking where the problem is,like pc users.
But the main thing is Tiscali is buying up ISP's like there's no tomorrow, others are/will introduced same features/throttling, so where will it end ?
Do you try to get people aware of it now or sleep your way into the dilema of trying to find a good ISP when all have introduced this policy.
Is it not also a very iffy way of marketing "unlimited" services, that have more clauses than the xmas shopping mall. It's like having the unlimited use of a car with no petrol.
We have tried lots of things, this is another one of them.

"Originally Posted by DC01 Am I right in understanding that eve is getting 'blocked' because it's getting effected by the traffic shaping code that is meant to block p2p traffic? If this is the case, isn't the traffic shaping meant to happen during peak hours of 6pm to 11pm? Why then am I unable to connect to eve at 4pm today (and I hear it was unavailable yesterday from 5pm, saturday 3pm, sunday 1.30pm)
Reply:-
1) We are not "blocking" the ports, we are managing the bandwidth for certain traffic types. 2) The peak hours you are quoting are for the FUP only. This is not the same thing. Actual network peak times kicks in arround 15:00 when the kiddies get home from school. __________________ Regards
