The scriptures: 27.3
Then the divine messenger showed me the river of life-giving water, sparkling like crystal, flowing from the golden throne of god down the middle of its street. On either side of the river grew the tree of life that produces fruit twelve times a year, once each month; the leaves of the trees serve as medicine for the nations. Nothing accursed will be found there anymore. The throne of god and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him. They will look upon his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. Night will be no more, nor will they need light from lamp or sun, for god shall give them light, and they shall reign forever and ever. ôHe will remove all of their sorrows, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. For the old world and its evils are gone forever." And he also said, "It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega--the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give the springs of the water of life without charge! All who are faithful will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children. But cowards who turn away from me, and unbelievers, and the corrupt, and the immoral, and those who practice witchcraft, and idol worshipers, and all liars--their doom is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death."

Mr. San ...
Weapon: cloning error.
Location: some indefinite place and time in the future.
I generally find it unwise to challenge gods, including the ones I don't believe in. It seems like tempting fate. At the very least, if some misfortune should befall you in the near or even relatively distant future, you've just handed the faithful a means to claim you to have been personally smitten for your arrogance. If, on the other hand, you suffer no such misfortune, the faithful will rather smugly suggest that the punishment for your effrontery awaits in the next world.
It really doesn't help you out much, either way.

Ahh, Lady your words echo the truth and the light. With luck some of the heathens will hear the calling in their hearts and cry out in the darkness that is their souls for light. I wish you g_dspeed in your spreading of the word, may you always find your way.

This thing went down hill from the title...
"Repent children of the slave races"
Does anyone representing the Amarr religion know how to use a carrot instead of a stick? Referring to non-Amarr as a "slave race" is not exactly going to make people beat a path to the local church.
* sarcasm * Oh oh! I get to be a slave race! Sign me up! * end sarcasm *
Where's Archbishop or that Ammatar dude of the church of Abundent Strife..er...life? At least I can read some of their stuff without wanting to beat the life out of the first Amarr priest I see.
I do note that these are my own personal views and not the views of my corp or alliance.

... *sigh* I suppose this was half inevitable.
Pilot, you seem to be suffering under the mistaken impression that I'm on your side, or that of the Amarr god.
Please understand just exactly how serious I am when I say that I'm not. My spiritual training is in the Achur religion of my homeworld, and while I don't dispute the power and influence of the Amarr, I don't consider the notion of Amarrian dominion over the cluster remotely acceptable. If the time comes, and I hope it will not, I will defend the Caldari State, and, if necessary, Saisio, to my last clone.
Normally, I'm opposed to becoming too deeply and personally entwined in the doings of humanity, but for the survival of my faith I'll make an exception. This was the purpose for which I became a capsuleer, it is the cause for which my human antecedent died, and it is the single human cause to which I owe a shred of loyalty. Where my homeworld is concerned, I am no less opposed to the expansionist ideals of the Amarr than Mr. San is.
However, if that time should come when I find myself obliged to defend my world from the Reclaiming, it will not be the Amarr god I challenge, but the Amarr faithful. I'll keep my battles to this world, and leave the gods their own.

What about that time I tryed to give you a cute little Gallante slave? Sure she was a pirate through and through, but hey I'm certain she had no moral objections to doing a little bit of housework or such. Actually she looked quite pleased at the prospect of my turning her over to a tall brutor.
Ah the silly little one, she must have been smitten by what could have been her new master.
Ahhh the infatuations of youth.
Bu surely GS you see the message she is trying to convey, it's nothing less then the redemption of ones soul. One should not take offence, you should embrace this message she preaches.

Bah...you were just trying to foist off your hedonistic, drug-ridden, immoral ex-girlfriend on me. I mean most of us break up with our significant others in a much more gentle manner. Throwing her into slavery and then tryng to pass her off to the first Brutor you find isn't exactly the best way to win the heart of somebody.
To be honest she appeared to be enjoying the roleplay.

Our past history was a bit more complex then you make it out to be. However I must assure you that everything done was quite legal in certain areas of space, and the manner in which she was captured and sentanced was quite moral.
Though you are right, she does seem to enjoy it and is eager to serve.

The Scriptures 66.6
So I was at this club. Yeah, club. That's right. No, they probably wouldn't let you in. You have to be known to the management, you know?
So, yeah. I was at this club and, maaan, I had done a metric ****load of Drop. Or was it those blue pills? I forget. either way, I tell you right now I was on the edge of some kind of revelation I swear to the shiny golden ass of the almighty Amarrian god. **** yeah.
So. The Drop. Or the pills. One of them. So, yeah. And I was banging this Gallente chick. 'Exotic Dancer' my black Brutor ass. Primo *****. Went like a 125 mil autocannon. It's that kind of place, I guess, or at least it is when I'm there. And I was on the edge of something. I swear: everything was falling into place for me. I could almost see it: the Truth. The word of holy God himself.
And you know what? That grade A piece of ass was way ahead of me. May the Lord bless her sinful soul. She just came right out and said it as some corrupt old Amarrian fool walked past us: "Those Amarrians," she said, "Are ******* *******s." That was it! That fine lady of the night had nailed it and I told her so.
"All we gotta do now is kill the mother******* and we make the world a better place!" I said.
"You're crazy." She had a point. The drugs do work.
"Amen," I said, "You got any hot friends?"
The rest of the night was all a blur and is pretty much as forgotten as my point. Anyway, you all know I'm right.
Amen.

Captain, I urge you to drop by the nearest Imperial university station and enroll yourself in a post-graduate course in classic Amarrian diplomacy. Make sure to get a physical professor, specifically one of sufficient experience to browbeat you into submission when you try something as amazing as this.
Note: A careful study of the majority of Amarrian diplomats shows that while they are xenophobic in the way of their people, they are not thoughtlessly insulting in most cases, save for certain people high enough in the chain of command to easily get away with rudeness and stupidity - but even these were replaced by the more capable eventually.

Captain Msana, take out the drugs and change the political alignment of the swearing and you've done a good job of telling us all about how a half-decent Holder's night out might go these days. Better yet, though, leave the drugs in and we can get a glimpse of a not-so-decent Holder's lifestyle. But if we wanted to really achieve something, we'd drop responding to slander with slander and get back to work on that news agency we were supposed to be founding. I mean, I can be involved in spats all day, but somehow I think both our peoples have certain practices we'd rather not see dragged around in the mud - or should I bring up the terribly small tolerance certain outcasts are given in Tribal culture?

You would have to be more specific, Captain. Enrolling in a diplomacy course and so forth was directed at the Amarrian who was putting up esoteric diagrams and saying odd things about religion while inviting conversion with one hand and putting up notices of abusing Gallente slaves with the other. Talk about mixed messages.
If you're going champion some cause, words are not enough. Actions have to back words up, or your story ends on a low note. That's the only real message there.

Actualy, I think the emphesis here should not be on the word slave as much as on the word races. (Races is plural.)
Maybe it is time for the Matari, Caldari, and Gallante to unite and destroy this monster. If you think they are only after the Minmatar, you are sadly mistaken.

As noted elsewhere, the Caldari are aware of the threat but are not about to upset the balance of power in the cluster in favor of the Gallente. While the link between Caldari and Amarr is strategic rather than a deep and abiding friendship, it is nevertheless as solid as necessity makes it. The only way a joint Gallente/Matari/Caldari war effort against the Amarr works from a Caldari strategic standpoint is if, immediately after the Amarr fall, the Matari and Caldari make common cause against the Gallente.

Speak for yourself, heathen. Our Race is deeply bonded with our true brothers, the Amarrians. I would never abandon them in favor of the slave races or even, God forbid, the Gallente. The fact that our alliance was forged to keep the Gallente at bay does not mean we're willing to break it this easily. I have embraced the one true God, and soon our Race must realize that our future depends on a cordial alliance with the Amarr empire, against the slave races and the federation. Only united can we put an end to the under-peoples' schemes against the Divine power that we can wield united.

I could say the same to you, pilot, and, in fact, will. The Amarrian faith does not hold sway in Caldari space, nor are the Caldari likely to be any more welcoming of Amarrian religion than of selfish Gallentean individualism. The Maker is not the Amarrian god, nor is the Creator, and the Caldari did not win free of the Federation only to bow to the will of another master, which we would have to do, if we converted-- which, indeed, having converted, you will have to do.
The "True Amarr" do not recognize any race as their equal in the eyes of their divinity. To be of another race is to be a subject, if not a slave.
While you, and the Amarr in general, may proselytize in Caldari space, and be tolerated, and even win a few converts, I think you'll find, Mr. Nordir, that the CEP is well-prepared for the eventuality that the Reclaiming resumes its less-peaceful guise, and, furthermore, that the Caldari remain dedicated to remaining themselves. "Remaining themselves" does not mean "converting to an ancient faith from a culture that can't even bring itself to update its starships without consulting holy writ."
Come peacefully, and you've a long hill to climb indeed. Come in force, and be prepared to get shot. Good day, pilot.

Edited by: Magnus Nordir on 16/12/2007 21:15:32 Edited by: Magnus Nordir on 16/12/2007 21:12:31 Ms. Jenneth, if you would indeed pay any attention to the Holy Scriptures, you would surely know that the people referred to as "slave races" (alternate translation: under-people) are the races that were rightfully enslaved by the Amarrians during the time of their fastest expansion because they were so lowly they hadn't even invented spaceflight or any means to counter the Amarrians' march onwards. Back then, the universe truly was about the survival of the fittest.
As for the relationship between the Caldari state and the Amarr Empire, only time will tell who the superior will be here. However, as long as an alliance stands between us, we are equals, but I still feel that every Caldari should feel obliged to embrace the one true God because He speaks the work of wisdom that have brought the Amarr empire to where it is - second to none. Do you truly believe we would stand any chance against the glory of the God's empire with the godless oligarchy that runs our state? I think not. If we stay allied with the Ammarians, we will crush the minmatar rebels for daring to question the Word of God, and then make the federation repent for their sins against our Race, for that is our destiny.
Everything is possible for him who believes. |
