Has exploration been dumbed down too much? Is it no longer the hardcore, elite, mindfark it used to be?
Is it now too easy to get "stuff" from sites? (too much stuff now droppign in hack/arch/salv cans)
Has the drop rate been increased too much? (More encryption methods Than God!)
Have too many additions been made to make the process of scanning sites easier, thereby rendering the whole process too simplistic? (e.g. I now have a scanning time of a mere 81 seconds!)
Poor bard, I must give you a cookie!- Tirg |

While I understand that the new distribution is supposed to replace farmed COSMOS content, I do think that the fact that there are thousands of solar systems which can harbor RADAR/MAGNETO sites makes the availability of items a joke. Even if there were only one in ten systems which had an exploartion site you would be looking at over 500 sites generated per day. If we assume only half of these are found and farmed, that leaves 250 per day. And from reports it would seem that, on average, we're getting about 1.5 skill books per site.
So unless the farmed COSMOS complexes were generating more than an estimated 400 skill books a day, this has been a bit of a mega-nerf for rarity. |

450 second Sisters Probe Launcher -50% Covert Ops Lvl 5 -50% Signature Analysis Lvl 5 -10% Rig -10% Rig ____ 91.125 seconds -10% Prospector PPH-2 implant ____ 82.0125 seconds
Virtue Implants can get you even a little lower.
You are absolutely right. I rounded incorrectly. 82 seconds. And don't virtue have no impact on scan times, only scan strengths? |

Well yes, if you look at it from a cold, financial perspective 10 at 10 equals one at 100. But what you lose is the wow factor.
You go from "Oh wow! I just found a 100 mil skillbook!" to "Yawn, another 10 mil in the bank account. Ho hum" It's the rareness and exclusivity that adds a certain amount of mystique to the endeavour and, for me at least, makes it more fun. If the world and his amarrian slave master are getting the same goodies from it where's the joy? |
