I know the Ferox isn't the greatest BC to PVP in, but the cost is very nice, even fitted with all T2 Mods.
Anyways I mostly use this in small gangs, but occasionally solo when I'm bored and my friends aren't on.
5x Heavy Missile Launcher II 2x Medium Nosferatu II ---------------------------- 1x Invulnerability Field II 2x Large Shield Extender II 1x Stasis Web I 1x Warp Disruptor I ---------------------------- 2x Ballistic Control II 2x Shield Power Relay II
I'm also thinking it might be worth it to put a TH resistance rig on. I am also training up to Drones V so I can use 5 hobgoblins, though my drone skills aren't anything spectacular yet.

Given the setup listed, using EXACTLY the same setup on the Drake will give: 25% more DPS with kinetic missiles 25% more shield resists, and thus 25% more tank. A spare highslot. (So you could actually do 6 launchers, 2 nos) A spare midslot.
The pricetag of the Drake is marginally higher, true, but the insurance payout makes that almost academic.

Yeah that is a good point. I calculated around 10mil more isk per loss when flying a Drake which translates to close to 30% more than the Ferox for slightly less return.
Also, I like the way the new Ferox looks so much (compared to it's ugly older version) I just had to fly it!
But yeah, I realize the Drake outperforms a 'rox.

You're right, the Ferox does look rather funky. But it also just suffers from 'bad ship' syndrome.
Thankfully, I can fly a nighthawk theses days, which gets the funky looks, and is actually a credible ship. Not so hot for PvP admittedly (it suffers far too much on powergrid to get away with a PvP setup) but a superb PvE vessel. -- Crane needs more grid 249km locking? GMP and TNP |

Yeah I guess I'll fly this Ferox till it becomes space debris and then pick up a Drake :P
...But I'll be sad to see her go :(

Edited by: Triksterism on 14/12/2007 14:45:31 Everyone has Drake fever it seems, but I still love the Ferox, it's much quicker and still puts out a nice amount of damage and it's tank isn't paper either.
On most markets I've found the Ferox going for about 19~24mil which is DIRT CHEAP so the loss is really REALLY minimal. The price of 1 drake = about 2 Feroxes which means you and your Caldari flying friends need to grab a Ferox and go on an anti-Drake op >:D

Market price is one thing. Insurance payout is another. The insurance payout vs. premium really does narrow the price differential.
*shrug* they look pretty, but you're stacking the deck against yourself when flying 'em. Which is a shame really. -- Crane needs more grid 249km locking? GMP and TNP |

It is a Rail ship. I use mine with missiles though, just because its a foreman thing.
As a gate camp sniper you can run 5 250mm t2 rails, 1 Shield resist gang mod, 1 spare high. TankymcTankerson midslots? Maybe, but chances are you're not the target they want to shoot. You may need a sensor booster or two and some tracking comps. Lows, more ganky with magnetic stabs and such.
As a roaming pvp ship... well if you're THAT pressed for PVP use a Thorax... a lot cheaper, electron fitted meanness. If you are determined to use the Ferox in a roaming PVP gang, fit your tank out as best as possible, they can be almost as hard as the Drake. Then fill your top slots with blasters, the extra range should help out, a gang mod for scan res OR shield resist, and a NOS. Then your drone bay with Warrior II's and run about.
