A. No.
I've spent the past 5 months primarily doing agent missions in hopes of landing the Big One (Tech II Ship BP).
On average, I do 3 missions an hour with a pay of ~150,000 isk. Every ~15 missions I get a Willpower Implant worth 5 million. So, my total hourly earnings are ~1,450,000/hour.
I've lost 1 Megathron (to pkers) and purchased/trained the Project Management skill (total loss+investment = 150 million isk). Assuming I play 3 hours every day for 5 months, then I've recouped my total losses. Never mind about the month+ I spent training research skills.
To sum up, I've earned about 150 million isk and lost about the same. All I've got to show for my efforts are some ancillary benefits like standings, 34,048.71 R&D points, and location services. I suppose the R&D points are the real money here, but the lottery system ensures absolutely nothing.
OK, I'm done with my rant and need to get back to transporting these flee bitten homeless. Thanks for listening.

You are doing agent missions and wanting a Tech II Ship BP? Wrong agents. It's research agents you need to speak to.
I personally make good money from agent missions since the agents got beefed up for kill missions. Except for that time I lost my Rupture to lag, that was a heck of a set back. ------

Of course I'm using R&D agents to aquire my R&D Points. I'm not a total beta noob. At any rate, my intent was to let off some steam caused by countless peeps with half the R&D points and effort getting BPs. |

Look at it this way. The more RP you got and the more RP other people expends accepting a BP the bigger your shot at a BP get. And let us not forget Tech III.
Just hang in there, or go shot stuff. You'll be surprised how anti-stressing it is shooting stuff -------------------------

I see, no offence intended. Just wanted to clarify that point.
Hope you feel better for that little vent now. ------

What is a good source of income then?

Unless you're in a 0.0 corp and can mine high-end ore, anything that makes over a million an hour isn't bad. You really can't count lost ships due to PKers since that can happen to miners, NPC hunters, OR agent runners... anyone who ever leaves 0.5+ space risks losing a ship. So I guess in one sense high-security stip mining is a good source of income since it's zero risk... but it's also WAY too boring. Why would I pay 13 bucks a month just to shine a beam of light on rocks all day long?

You said you make roughly 1,5 million isk per hour. If you play 3 hours every day, that makes 4,5 million isk per day. If we say the average month has 30 days, than you will earn 30x4,5=135 million isk per month. If you play like this for 5 months you would earn more than 600 million isk.
So you now can earn money much faster than at the beginning. Dont get me wrong, i guess you can get easily upset with all this lottery-thing. But I am a agent runner, too, and would be happy about an implant every 15 missions... So everyone has bad luck in some areas of the game and good luck in other areas (though i didnt get a bp either)

Change agents! or get a better quality one, I earn way more than that, plus bonus's. maybe get one who gives more valuable implants.. clicky

hehe...yeah, forgot how many days are in a month.
I would also like to point out that I truly appreciate all the effort the dev staff have made on making the agent system a much better, well rounded, experience. My only gripe is with the lottery method because, to me, it is unfair. However, it is prolly the most realistic system as most major medical and technological breakthroughs seem to have a bit of luck involved, e.g. x-ray, refrigeration, Penicillin, etc. |

Ten mil in one day with a level 2 Come on! Is that possible?

Oh really? Unless you are referring to the sale of a valuable items such as implants, it sounds a little far fetched, especially for a level two agent.

I average around 10mil a day; not including implants.
It's possible.

Note to Original Post: I only use a Caracal Cruiser. There's no need to use an expensive battleship at all. Make sure you have a good regular sell-point for T2 components and RAMs/RDBs and ensure you also recycled anything not of use for sale, add in Commodity sales and ... voila.
It is, of course, a fairly crap money making job compared to other professions, however you can combine it quite successfully with other jobs (some trading, manufacturing etc) that makes it worthwhile.
IMO there is no single "job" that is the best... its how well you combine your potential roles that provides a winning solution.

If you can only complete about 3 missions per hour on average my guess is you're being sent on long hikes on a regular basis. I'd therefore suggest looking for another agent - possibly of lower quality - that doesn't send you out nearly as far: with a proper one you should be able to complete two to three times as many missions per hour. Even if the average income per mission is lower than with your current agent your overall profit over time ought to be far superior...
Oh, and what Morkt said (other jobs on the side)
