Edited by: Guillame Herschel on 14/12/2007 23:03:59 And exploration probers in general, too.
Virtue Implant set: like LG snakes, but for scan probe signal strength. Rawr!
Sisters scan probe launchers: 450 sec base cycle time instead of 600 sec. Rawr!
Sisters scan probes: 10% improved signal strength. Rawr!
Sisters hardwires: more boosts to probe signal strength and reductions in cycle time.
It's now quite feasible to use high strength exploration probes to search directly for ships in deadspace, not just their drones.
So, to all of you who have been whining about mission probing salvage professionals coming into your mission: EAT IT. CCP have just BOOSTED the mission probing profession by about a hundred percent or so.
I love it. So does CCP. Now adapt.

450 seconds?
With maxed skills and the right implant set you'd be able to use exploration probes as fast as some people use ship probes.
Maybe not quite... but still. Nice.

Is it just me or does this make the Marauder seem like an obvious choice now for exploration ship. (Or has that been the idea all along and I've only just got it).

Edited by: OldWolfe on 14/12/2007 23:41:01 Looks like I'll have to adapt and stop doing my own missions and start making my astarte into an all rounded armor resisting ship and start probing out players in thier own mission in dodixie and just jump in and kill all the rats and get the isk all for myself because the mission runner cannot do a thing about it, cannot stop such thing from happening at all.
*edit* or jump in, aggro the whole place and leave again after bookmarking it, then wait a bit and hope the whole room aggro'ing will kill the mission runner, and I can go back and loot the mission runner's wreck before he comes back to get it.

The idea is to salvage their wrecks, not doing their mission for them. That will onyl make them grateful, and you don't want to be loved, do you?

You failed to realize one thing: Mission runners do their mission for the Lp AND isk from the rats. SO If I kill all the rats in the mission, then theres none for the mission runners to make a bounty profit off of. Not to mention aggroing the whole room so when I leave, they all swarm the mission runner and kill him. Then I go back and get his wreckage and loot from his dead ship since no one "owns it".

People running missions in high sec aren't doing it for the pathetic high sec loyalty points and pathetic high sec mission rewards, they are doing it for the NPC bounties. So you will indeed honk them off if you kill the rats while they tank for you. -- Guile can always trump hardware -- |

At this moment, there is NO WAY mission runners can chase off a salvager/other powerful ships from going into the missions and taking all the bounties/wreckage for themselves.
Thats the problem with all this, theres no way to fight back within your own mission for what is yours and not THEIRS. Smart salvagers will now bring in heavy tanking friends or their own heavy tankers and have a happy day salvaging freely and stealing kills freely.

Seeing as how I'm new to people invading my mishes, how exactly does your aggro prospect work? If I'm the solo mish runner, I'll end up with all the aggro anyway. Are you saying you can kite all the aggro I haven't yet pulled to me, to me? Futz, I can evaluate whether the aggro being kited my way is tankable or not. I'll be gone long before I'm dead. If you have left when they all aggro and suppose it's me that invaded your mission, I'll happily stay and kill all the rats so i can have all the bounties to myself and none for you. Then I'll call in my friend with a salvager for him to come in and salvage the whole place.
However, there are some missions where you can aggro groups at a time. Well...I can gather all the groups and let it come close to me, while you're taking no damage from the blob, then suddenly I'll leave and you will suddenly have to deal with the whole blob from all corners of the room upon your ship. See how long you last before you can warp out (that is, if youre able to warp out fast enough).
Well, they said I had to adapt regarding the salvaging roles...fine, I'll adapt and start invading missions and steal the bounties and encourage other people to do the same.

Aside from totally screwing your gameplay experience for that moment you have considered everything. Even if you dont die or lose alot of isk I still fly off smiling knowing your experience was ruined.
Syrup
PS I also just thought, what if I know all your "spawn triggers"? Technically I could warp in, kill the triggers forcing so much junk to spawn you couldnt even attempt the mission until after DT when everything resets. Sweet!!!

Meh. I wouldn't whine about losing a mish once and again. I think having to say "fudge, sorry Ytsi Orukemi, I just can't handle this action," every so often would be a good thing. If it happened because a real player came and messed my careful carebear plans up, even better.
I don't consider flotsam and jetsam mine, even if I made it. I don't consider mish space to be mine. This is EVE. I'm living on borrowed time, and scraping and stealing for whatever I can get. I certainly wouldn't consider it a "screwing of my game experience." Maybe I just need to get scanned down more to hate it.

I'd toss the mish. Big deal. But... if you know my mish triggers so well, you would probably be better served running your own mishes. I mean, is it worth it for you to scan out my mish, on the off chance you find it, when you already know the mish like the back of your hand anyway?

That wasn't our point. We're pointing out that CCP made it so mission runner can do NOTHING against people invading and stealing bounties and stealing loots/wreckages. In fact, they made it very possible for many players to make mission runners have a very hard time doing anything in missions.

Sounds like they screwed up big time if it really is that easy to steal other peoples missions, hopefully it will get fixed in an upcoming patch.
In related news, the SOE probe launcher should make a lot of exploration junkies very happy. _________________ [SAK] Alumnus--And Proud Of It! -- aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

Failing accepted missions causes a loss in agent, corp and faction standing.
That faction standing that can only be regained by doing storyline missions, so if you fail too many missions, your faction standing will be shot.
Now while this probably isn't really important for you, it is important for people trying to get high faction standing for POS anchoring, broker fees, using other agents without grinding, or those nice faction BPC rewards from COSMOS agents.

Standing with agent is lost only as far as i can tell, not the npc corp as a whole

See, now this was the thing I hadn't considered / didn't know. I didn't know the faction hit was only regainable through storyline mishes. Somehow even that's not such a big deal to me. I forsee some kind of difficulty mod being added to scanning mission deadspaces if this is abused too severely.
May I remind you about the fun that CCP had at the Privateer Alliance's expense when they went balzak crazy with wardecs?

I advise you to double check your standing transactions lists then, as standing should be lost for all 3.
It used to be that standing was only lost for agent and corp, but people with high faction standing abused the mission system refusal system - they refused all missions that didn't pay well and even though their agent and corp standings dropped through the floor, they could still use the agent due to their high faction standing.
If you're correct, then that little loop hole is back again.
