For some reason, I don't know why, whenever I start EVE my computer restarts.
I have checked all possible causes, both hardware and software. Originally I though my computer was overheating but it wasn't. I can use any other program, including playing other games both online and offline, graphic intensive and with sound. There is never any problem. EVE rarely works for longer than 5 minutes before my computer completely restarts.
This has not happened at all without the EVE client being open, it must be EVE that is doing this.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled EVE twice and it hasn't helped. I'm at a loose end now. I can't play the game at all yet nothing has changed on my system from when I was last able to play it. I did write a petition however the petition isn't in the "My Petitions" section when I check so I guess it didn't work.
Can someone please tell me what the hell could make the EVE client reset my computer whenever it starts up. It's been doing this for 3 days now, it's getting beyond irritating, I feel like I'm paying for nothing.
I don't want to abandon EVE just because it doesn't seem to want to run on my computer, anyone have any solution.

When you start eve and your system restarts... when you run eve again I asusme it dosen't crash the computer?
If it dosen't.. do you shutdown or put it to sleep before you open up eve a second time and it crashes?
Or can you restart and play eve.. then like 4 hours later come back and run eve again w/o restarting?
How quickly can you reproduce the crash following one? if a restart allows you to run eve.. then something occuring on your system is changing or altering something thats causing it to crash again.
What do you do between when you close eve following a eve-restart and when you start even up again and it crashes the system? ------------ This is not War... This is pest control - Dalek Sek

Welcome to EvE where the on/off switch on your pc is redundant Install EvE classic don't use sound, get latest drivers for your video card, worked for me, well it was an improvment..

If I start EVE it will restart my computer within 5 minutes. If I immediately start EVE again, it'll restart my computer within 5 minutes. If I do something else for 4 hours and then start EVE within 5 minutes of EVE starting my computer will restart.
I do nothing different to what I've normally done. I was playing EVE 3 days ago. I was about to make a 26 jump move to Gellente space and the computer just restarted itself. I haven't been able to play EVE since. All I do is shut down MSN messenger and double click the EVE icon when I start EVE. Occasionally I'll have Windows Media Player in the background. I don't use the premium graphics and I have audio disabled.
EVE has worked fine on this computer for 7 months, why would it stop working now all of a sudden?

Are you using classic or premium?
If your using premium, premium is stressing your video card and if the system restarts it may be a sign your powersupply can't keep up.

You're not the only one who has been having problems recently. I'm also using the Classic version of EVE (my main computer is unable to handle the newer graphics, and my other is currently OOC). Every time I try to play, my computer fully locks up within 10 minutes of starting EVE up.
I would have to say its Trinity, as I never had these issues before the expansion's release. |

Had it happen once to me, just playing and boom system restarted with an error message stating it has recovered from a system failure. Hasn't happened since, but definately a first for me as well. It was right after I set a long distination with the map open.

With the graphics enabled I've had a couple "extra" CTDs and one hard-lock-and-reboot.

I have had the same thing, I am having an ok spell at the moment after cleaning out my casing from all dust as my gfx card was overheating before that, downloading all the suggested upgrades from the 'can you run trinity' thread and lastly but the one that seems to have done it for me, selecting the 'low' cache option.....I am on my second day without a restart so fingers crossed.....

If it's restarting when you open the client, I'd bet my bottom dollar it's causing a BSOD exception in your Graphics Driver, and of course, unless you tell it not to, will reboot when it encounters a BSOD.

I was having this issue, but I reformatted my HD the night before the expansion was released and have not had any issues since.

To see what's causing the BSOD, right click on My Computer, click the Advanced tab, then click the Startup and Recovery button.
In the "System failure" section, uncheck "Automatically restart". Next time you crash, you'll see what driver is causing it. I've had two so far with Trinity, one the old school soundblaster driver ha10kx2k.sys crash (eve used to do that if you multi-cliented with sound on), and tonight I got a nv4disp.dll with only one client open.
Google whatever the cause is and you'll probably come across a whole bunch of things to try, including lots of bogus answers so be careful :-)

Edited by: Kilabi on 16/12/2007 13:22:07 Have the same problem with my laptop. After maximum 5 min in EVE the computer reboots. No blue screen and no message in the system and application logs of windows. Sometime it wont even start and just ends itself without message after the splashscreen.
I use the classic client on my laptop and will try to start without sound now. Lets see if this helps.

If a fatal exception is causing your computer to be prompted to reboot,.. then the error should be logged in the Event Viewer. There, you can find the offending application, driver, or process that's causing the problem and investigate it for a resolution.
Good luck!!

Edited by: Huldradans on 16/12/2007 15:35:07 Please run some form of temperature monitor that you can read while EVE is running. Try Speedfan and if you have an ATI graphics card, use ATI Tray Tools' OSD to display the temperatures in EVE, otherwise just run Speedfan and EVE in a window. Try open two clients at once and see what the temperatures are like, and then report back here. - ♮ EVESOURCE.COM: Teamspeak, forum & killboard hosting services - |

I would suspect that your computer's PSU is on its way out. See if you can borrow another and see if that improves the situation.

I am having nearly the same problem. I have been playing Eve on this laptop for about 1.5 years with no issues computer wise and after Trinity, the client keeps bringing up a BSOD. I can play for about 5-10 minutes before it does. It always happens if I click on an autolink or buy something from the market and the market window refreshes or if I resize a window in the game.
Totally unplayable. If I sit in station and do nothing, I am fine...

I was having the same problem, was running the classic EVE client and after 15 minutes at the must my computer would shut down. I figured that it was over heating so I opened up the case and removed all of the cat hair- still had the problem. I uninstalled EVE and download the new version of the classic client from the EVE website and the problem is gone. I ran EVE for over 14 hours straight after that with no problems.

This seems to have just started happening to me. I was sitting watching a gatecamp for a while, then the machine BSODed and insta-rebooted. I relaunched EVE and within five minutes same thing happened again. About to give it another go with my temp monitors open on the other screen. -

Edited by: Crumplecorn on 16/12/2007 19:45:23 As it turned out my tests in UT2004 revealed that I was having severe performance problems.
To make a long story short, it turns out it was the up to date drivers causing the performance issue (I was running older drivers before I reinstalled windows), but instead of downgrading to older drivers, I got some beta release drivers from here which are newer than the 'most up to date' ones, and remove this performance issue.
UT2004 is back to its original performance, and I'm dual-clienting with premium graphics with no issues, so it seems to have fixed the problem. I'll post in this thread again if the issue resurfaces with the newer drivers. -

Meant to add, I am not using premium content. I had no problem running 4 clients on this machine before, but now I am lucky to get 2, ecstatic to get 3.
I suspect unless something is done, I am going to have to ditch 2 toons.... Please give me back my previous client. This new one seems to leak ram the longer it runs and I am tired of white models missing textures...
Trinity was a step backward for me. Judging by forums posts, it was for a lot of other players as well.

Try taking the cover off your GFX card and cleaning the fan with a paintbrush of all the nice dust it might have tucked away in there.
I used to get this and cleaned the card and it worked, cause the fan had actually stopped mving due to the amount of crap sitting in the fan.

Are you running Xfire/Teamspeak/Ventrillo ?
Xfire for one, had a very nasty known bug with WoW and AMD CPUs on XP (Used to fail to connect to the server).
Try closing down all 'extra' programs before you start up EVE.

Before you completely take your computer apart, try this:
Windows is set up so that it restarts at every little error that occurs deep in the system. You can turn this off via the control panel -> system -> advanced tab, and then the bottom part click settings (I don't know what it is called on English windows version), in the popup remove the tick from the bottom box (the one that has something with 'reboot computer automatically' next to it. My apolagies for not knowing the English terms, because I'm on a Dutch windows).
Then try and start EVE again.
