great patchnotes, sounds awesome. fixing the tribal issue tempest was a really great move, i'm sure the 6 (!) players owning one will appreciate this. if they ever undock it for more than orbitting the station.
but what about the hundreds, thousands of players with a mac?
nothing in the patchnotes indicates that i will be able to copy & paste stuff now (not even inside of eve). worked fine with crossover btw.
what about the random crash-to-desktop issues?
could we please get actual feedback on our bug reports and petitions on the forums, other than "premium graphics are in planning".. i am so not interested in the new graphics, i'd just like to have a reliable client.
pretty pretty please. with sugar on top.
paying for three accounts btw (just throwing that in there, i hear it helps with ship reimbursement claims seriously, i've seen the transcript..).

We are working hard with TransGaming to get the stability issues sorted. And there is a new patch coming soon that has a number of these fixes in. More details today hopefully.

A patch that is addressing a number of stability issues and the inability to copy/paste is being worked on at the moment. It is too early to promise that it will fix all your problems and that is why I rather not do that. The fact is that there are a number of issues that is causing the client to be unstable, in the coming patch we will address and hopefully fix those that we have successfully identified. We are aware of this problem and we are working to get it fixed. Patch notes for Mac/Linux clients will be posted when they pass testing.

Why not just do a pre-Trinity rollback then release Trinity for Mac when it's stable?
Stability > new features.

Edited by: Frothgar on 16/12/2007 17:15:23 I don't think they are ignoring or not adressing issues. Ship fixes (Ex the tempest) are likely very fast fixes due to them having very absolute values, deeper issues like engine usage or how a window is drawn or attached is far more complex.
I'm personally pleased with the overall quality of the eve mac client and while I have some minor gripes (Delays in hilighting window tabs, slightly sluggish cursor and camera rotation on arguably one of the best macs on the market) and some not so minor ones (Unable to copy and paste, random crashes during initial 15 minutes playing or loading pilot info windows) the overall quality of a FIRST version in an initial port has been one I'm quite pleased with.
I agree some things were slightly better pre trinity, but the copy/paste bug just got more annoying due to how Killmails are now done completely off of the info tab instead of via mail and can no longer be copied.
I don't think people say it enough but I'm happy to have a mac client, and hope with good feedback issues will be sortred promptly.

Stability > new features.
It is not quite that easy to do. Trinity wasn't just new ships and premium graphics content. You see, when Trinity was introduced with a new engine and a lot of optimizations and new UI features, there was a lot of work going into supporting all the new features in the current Cider engine. If those features wouldn't have been supported, there wouldn't have been a playable Mac client at all.

Good to see Dev's posting and addressing the mac client. Would not be a bad idea to create a thread and post in it everyday about this mac patch. When patch notes get posted and nothing is even mentioned about the mac client we all get scared.

Hey guys, just thought I'd throw in my part - I'm a first month subscriber with a mac (imac 20" 2.4ghz)... client runs pretty well, I have crashes too every now and then (1-2 a day, 6 hours avg. playing time) but it never freezes my system and I can just log back in straight away. I too would love to see these fixes but I would still keep playing with an unstable client, as unhelpful as that is. Looking forward to it.
Cheers

of course i am happy to have a mac client :p
but when i wrote that stuff i just lost another ship because my client suddenly vanished and reading those former patchnotes kinda freaked me out then.
i guess i needed some kind of reassurance.
