Do we all remember the reason that secure cans were introduced for? It was to stop the ore thieves in empire space.
Well today I went to get some veld as my agent wants some tritanium... I buys a giant can and goes out to the belt in a 0.9 system to do some mining... I go to anchor it and up pops a dialog saying I cant anchor it in 0.8 and above.
Basically the ore thieves are gonna be back as the whole reason for the cans has now been nerfed. The community wasnt even told this was coming either.
So thanks CCP for removing the whole reason for the secure cans. Sometimes I wonder if they think these changes through before doing them. -------------------------------------------

I agree that something needs to be done about stripmining in noob systems but this hasnt fixed anything.... if it's to fix spam it's not fixed that either.
Secure cans are STILL anchored in belts and at gates. It just means no more can be anchored.
The only reason Im annoyed is that the only thing this change has done has removed the very reason they were introduced for in the first place. Now anyone can go around robbing the noobs ore. -------------------------------------------

Oh and FYI Jarjar this is a noob account... I started an account just to use for agents.
Perhaps I should go introduce myself to ore thievery... wonder how long the noobs will stay silent. -------------------------------------------

Quote: I'm glad we can't put secure cans in .8 or above now. Helps out newbies.
If I leave an unsecured can and someone comes and nicks the ore then thats my bad luck. I get over it. Same as when I die in a single player game and have to restart at an earlier save.
Just how does it help noobies? Whenever they complain about ore thefts they are told by the GMs to use secure containers.
And to answer the other question "why am I in empire space?" the answer is that my agent is here...

A better fix would have been to disable mining lasers on cruisers and above in 0.9 and 1.0 systems. It would stop the stripmining in the noob systems entirely. -------------------------------------------

I dont disagree with the nerfing of bs roid raping... but the way CCP have gone about doing it is all wrong.
They nerfed noobs and not the ones stripmining the damn belts is all I'm saying. -------------------------------------------

If you have the money for secure cans and a decent mining operation, what the hell are you doing in high-sec space anyway?
Exactly. If you can afford a giant secure can, you can afford to mine in 0.7 or 0.6 space. Give the noobs a break.
I can afford it yes... not a problem... I have 6 battleships in total plus oodles of cash...
Thing is this is my third account that I'm starting from scratch and the character is very young and she has gunnery 1 and small hybrid 1... Now are you telling me I should risk it in more dangerous belts just because my other accounts have cash? I wanted to mine in the system my agent asked for the minerals... the ore is there... do I just leave it?
Frankly people who say I'm stealing from the noobs must be brain damaged as this char IS a soddin noob. -------------------------------------------

Ok... here is how it hurts noobs...
I saw this happen this afternoon...
Two probes were mining in Pator with a unanchored can between them... guy in a Mammoth flies by them and doesnt just steal the ore... HE STOLE THE CAN TOO.
As you can guess the 2 miners were not impressed.
Now all I'm saying is that the reason the secure cans were introduced was to stop this very thing happening. I could have easily got my ore by doing the very same thing but I didn't because I abhor thieves be it ore or corp thieves.
My guess is this is going to happen a lot now. -------------------------------------------

Quote: Since I can't try it atm, I'll ask here:
Is it still possible to anchor a secure can at Planet/Moon/SafeSpot? - Ammo Cans in 0.8 - 1.0 systems?

Answer: Nope... no new anchored cans in 0.8 and higher systems.
... and to Eco the thing I'm complaining about is that the reason the secure cans was introduced was to stop ore thieves... I was ok and mined the small amount of ore I needed to satisfy the agent but for the noob who wants to make some early cash it's going to limit them.
All I'm moaning about is that CCP removed the reason the secure cans were introduced for in the first place... to help the solo miners keep hold of their ore.
Anyway this is the last I'm going to post as nobody is reading what I put and reacting to what they THINK I put down. -------------------------------------------
