First and foremost, I bow to you. The details and the overall design sounds promising (although I would have done the salvaging part a bit differently). Having those mini professions is half of the fun I have in New Eden, and I would very much like to see something like this to happen :)
As well put before me, sometimes your thoughts are wandering around the things, trying to explain on things which are quite obvious to anyone. This makes your stuff a bit too detailed. as if you want to explain your thoughts to little children. (Or it just my digital mind, that can't really cope with it :D )
If you don't mind I share some of my thoughts on the topics as well : - Salvaging : During a fight not always the same parts of a ship/module that gets destroyed. A tribe specialized in salvaging would elaborate on that fact, and retrieve parts (Engine/Armour/Shield generator/weapon mount/ reactor/ mainframe) damaged. A decently skilled engineer would be able to use those parts to build one that functions up to 90%(depending on salvage quality and engineer skills) of the initial stuff.
- Mining : I really like the idea of the scrap metal floating in space polluting the roids, but couldn't it the other way around as well? In a clean/abandoned system, where no one touches them, couldn't they react on the solar flares and other cosmic events to randomly (with a tiny chance) grant something purified ? Like a gem could be found within the veins ?
- Hacking : I would have thought about hacking to serve three different fields : - Sites/abandoned wrecks etc : I love your approach - Hacking other's stuff to gather intel : I would go with the full spy approach, and not combining it with stealing. That is getting dangerously close to RL hacking. When someone cracks a character password, and sell their stuff etc.. would be really hard to distinguish what has happened. While the idea is appealing at some level, it would grant too many rage quits by newbies, who don't know/care about firewalls. Or missing out on the skills to protect themselves from a goon players. - EWAR : I would love to see this as an EWAR option. Like you need to approach a ship to be closer than 2km (or even closer), launch a grappling hook/nanobot stream, to upload a virus. Eg could stop active modules, turn off engines etc... of course skills/modules on both sides to be applied.
Once again, good, detailed work! - If at least 1% of your work make it to Eve, it would make me very happy :D
