after leaving eve, coming back at trinity release, seeing the pretty graphics (mmm graphics), then mining for abit (getting rarther bored), i decided to try a bit of moon probing.
after probing out one or two systems worth of moons last night, i found a moon which contains dysprosium (with no pos at it).
now im in abit of a state wondering what to do, should i set up my own corp (been in noob corp since creation) and set up a pos to mine it? (i have no idea about pos's) how much would it take to set up? how much profit would this make?
should i sell its location? how much would i get for it?
help?

DO NOT TELL OTHER PEOPLE WHERE IT IS OR YOU WILL GET WAR DECED
At the mo dysprosium prices are extremely high so take adavnatage of it and prehaps we can get the price down via competition
you can easily setup your own corp so do it and be rich!!!
PS can i buy the stuff of ya when ya mine it i need some cheap lol

not much tbh verse the profit about 300 mill all together for a medium pos with a moon miner and silo and a set of guns to protect the pos
and then 40 mill a week fuel costs
but your output would be 800 mill a week so well worth it

I'm going to disagree with these people. Sell the location, because if anybody finds out where it is then they'll pop your POS and there's nothing a 1-man corp can do about it. Just to be sure, the POS is in low-sec, right? There's no moon mining in highsec (0.4 and above).

Yea you could sell it but then you still have the samew risk as they may ask which system it is in etc then they gety the location free of charge and tbh not many people attack poses unless they know exactly what it has and your guns should pop anyone trying to scan the moon

Give people only a vague area of eve (i.e. North/South/East/West) and maybe a security status, use Chribba as a third-party to hold the ISK and verify the transaction. One of these is currently on auction in the WTS forum, and the starting bid of 10B was offered in 4 minutes, so use that as a guide for what to charge.

Prices have been fluctuating a lot recently, but in any case that moon is worth 2.5-5bil/month.
Do NOT let some ass trick you into telling him the exact location or region (east/west/north/south is ok)! Do not let 'em pay you less than 10bil!
I can't afford to buy that moon sadly, but if you have any questions to help you not get tricked, just convo me _______________

Edited by: Jessamine on 17/12/2007 16:58:03 It's Chribba. If there were a more trustworthy person in EVE I don't know who it would be. He's the regular third party for mothership transfers and other large money transfers. He is currently working as the third party in a Tribal Issue Tempest auction, an item valued at around 80-90b. If you're safe with anyone, it's him.
Also the guy who runs eve-files.com and eve-agents.com

Edited by: ockackies on 17/12/2007 16:58:34 for any large scale transactions where trust is involved, its always best to get a reliable third party involved, that way neither side will get screwed, there are a number of well known 3rd partys that offer services, mostly you will find them mentioned in any mothership sale. (see above post, they sneaked in before me)
make sure the system is sec status 0.3 or below though, otherwise the moon cannot be mined.

Then I guarantee this is a scam. There is literally no reason not to use Chribba as a third party if it's legitimate.

Chribba is one of the best-known characters in game. He runs a third-party service that handles just about anything from Motherships (20bil each) on down. It'll cost you some of the profits to use Chribba, but he's got a reputation that's more valuable than any supply of ISK or valuable moons you might lay claim to (or dream of), and he's not about to blow that rep for anything.
For high-value and/or high-risk exchanges, mentioning Chribba as a third-party sets most folks right at ease. _______________________________

Chribba's reputation is such that suggesting not using him is tantamount to hiding something. There is no reason you would not want to use Chribba. He's like the granpappy of Eve. He has enough money not to be concerned about what this moon is worth, and enough reputation to put carebears and piwats alike at ease.
You may not know Chribba, but he is a respected forum / Eve player. Anyone here will vouch for his integrity.

If I were you I'd be doing the following right now....as in this very minute.
Post auction in the sell forum. Contact Chribba to play middle man.
Hold your breath that all goes through nice and smooth before anyone else happens to stumble on said moon. Become the luckiest s.o.b. n00b there ever was. If you're as new a player as it sounds, any reasonable price should be able to hold you over for a very, very.......very long time.

To the OP. I hope you're either using an alt or you're far far away from said system. You're probably being hunted down as we speak . In either case, good luck to you and congrats (assuming everything goes well)!

and pirates mouths foaming as they think of the hundreds of people who are going to go in the area looking for said moon.
tbh, I would assume the OP is a pirate alt trying to get more people into low sec. may or may not be true, but I remember far too may instances where it was the case. My favorite was trit for 440 isk each in Ossa.

I smell a scam, but I have a cold so I could be wrong.

You never can be 100% sure. You can scan every moon, if there's a POS with agressive defenses or not.
Just use a covert ops, warp to the moon, and get out of range of the pos guns. Then scan - no problem at all. I often scanned moons with POS at it when I scanned, just of curiosity.

Moon materials have been reshuffled some time ago, and not everyone had the patience to scan everything again.
To OP: Congrats if that's true, you got really really lucky and will most likely make a lot of ISK selling the location.
EDIT: On second thought, this story does sound a bit fishy. The OP claims to be a newbie still in the NPC corp, with 24 million to his name, and with no knowledge whatsoever about starbases. Yet he was in low-sec, moon scanning (not a very common activity for a newbie, is it) and is perfectly aware of the value of Dysprosium. Or maybe I'm just being paranoid again...

Well, it's pretty simple really...either it's a real find and Ketz wants to sell it using a SECURE method like chribba. Or it's a scam and he refuses to use a third party which will make it pretty much impossible to sell.

Why should you worry about this Dysprosium Moon when Outbreak has their own Dysprosium moon at Zahefeus VII Moon 3 in Khanid region?

I think the yellow highlighted text isn't good enough. You should draw a treasure map so people can find it easier!!
PS: No clue if we have a Dysprosium moon or not, so I can't c/d your claim. If we do, please don't shoot at it...we don't like violence 'n all that stuff. Just let us mine in peace ffs!! _______________
