My BS skills are very low so won't be able to do any super fittings. Which of the BSes between Typhoon, Tempest, and Maelstrom do you guys recommend? If any of you guys want to post your PVE min BS fittings I would be grateful as well!

I believe Typhoons are decent for missions. Cruise missiles, Heavy Nosferatus, and Tractor/salvage in the highs, cap recharge in the mids, and 2 LARs, 4 hardeners, and cap relays/ballistic controls depending on personal preference. The damage from cruise missiles isn't huge but the 5 heavy drones you can use makes up for it (and put 5 meds in the bay to deal with frigates and cruisers). The advantages are that it's cheaper than a Raven, uses less ammo, and it's a little quicker too (especially if you don't mind losing a cap recharger for an Afterburner to keep up range).

I would go with the Typhoon as well, had one for a while fitted with 3*CCC I (rigs), 2*LAR II, 3*hardeners, 2*1600mm.. With T2 Medium drones or combination it it is a great boat able to tank well and still deal a bit of damage.. Highs were autos and cruise - would probably go with torps now!

Typhoon : Artillery + Cruise Missiles + Heavy Drones + spare flight of Medium Drones
Artillery and Cruise Missiles have the best range. Cruise Missiles and Heavy Drones can take out any BC's or BS's that get too close. Medium Drones can take out any Frigs or Cruisers that get too close. --- ΞνΞ ΘΠLІΠΞ Amarr dont need Grr... and RAWR is definately too much, but some Oomph would be nice. |

Whilst the Typhoon is good for missions, it is not very good for low skilled people. You need to be able to use Cruise Missiles, Large Projectile and Heavy Drones effectively to make good use of it. Also it has a small powergrid, making Artillery almost impossible to fit without sacrificing significant tank. Even with Advanced Weapon Upgrades it is hard to fit.
The Maelstrom is far more suitable for low skillpoints people but it isn't cheap ( 200-300 million to fit one ). It has a huge powergrid and is easy to fit. It also has a tanking bonus.
The Maelstrom on the other hand has only one weapon systemso it is easier to train for.
I have 7 million skillpoints and I'm pretty sure that the Maelstrom is still more effective, mainly because the Typhoon needs to get close to use it's guns.
For the Typhoon I use
4x Dual 425mm ACCs, 4x Cruise AB II, 2x Cap recharger II, 1x PWNAGE painter. 2x LAR II, 4x Mission specific Armor Hardeners( or DC ), 1x CPR 3x CCC 5x Heavy Drone, 5x Lights, 1x Web Drone.
For the Maelstrom I use
8x 1200 Arties AB, X-L SB, 4x Mission specific Active Shield Hardeners 0-2 gyros, 3-5 CFCs.* 3x CCC 6xMedium Drones, 8x Light.
*If you are new to level 4 it's wise to go on the tanky rather than ganky side of things.
When I didn't have the skills for tech II, I'd get best or second best named usually.

nice topic :) Im actually in the market for a beginner lvl 4 boat :p
I had my eyes on the typhoon for a while.. my missile skills aint TO hot... drones are... decent at best :P interfacing 3, can use normal heavys and got lvl 2 or 3 in their support skills
it seems easyer to use then a mael tho because of the less dependency on range
What makes it so expensive to fit a mael tho ? because DAMN

You can make do without artillery and just use Cruise and 5 heavy drones - the damage is a little low but it should be enough for L4s. You could use your highslots for nos to run the tank or maybe medium artillery/cruisers.

All minmatar BS's are decent for doing missions. I am doing lvl 4's with typhoon now it's pretty cool but needs also missile skills. Best option is probably maelstorm if you can shield tank.

I waited a long time before jumping into lvl 4's, but went straight to a Mael. My reasoning was not wanting to lose one due to poor secondary skills.
I'm very happy I waited. My mael is near indestructible. Survives all the lvl 4's solo, arty & drones are great, and I found that by adding a drone link augmentor, I can fit 7 1400mm, and get 60KM range out of my drones. Since this means I can always fly at 45-60KM range (optimal for 1400's) it does great DPS.
Yes, Matar ships need a bunch of skills, but they are very effective once you get there.

You can train the E-war drone skill up and get to 60km range without the module. Dunno if that`ll help your setup or not. :P
Thx for the info, I`m looking into getting a Mael myself for missions. ----
