Edited by: Morning Maniac on 23/03/2004 16:30:58 I have taken up the challenge given to us by Hellmar. I had the idea before but if CCP will actually chip in it could work. I'm not planning on running a massive profit but it should at least break even.
I plan to recruit new players who are less then 6 weeks in the game. The only requirement is that they have completed the tutorials and training missions. After 6 weeks as a student they will become either a teacher or graduate and join another corp or whatever they choose (one doesn't exclude the other).
What I need now is people who are willing to help teach these newbies. Specialists in any area are welcome: mining, trade, manufacturing, npc hunting and pvp. You wouldn't have to join the corp but if you would be so nice to take a bunch out once in a while then that would be great.
I am also looking for sponsors. Established corps who are willing to donate, isk, minerals, bps, bpcs, space junk that's still useful to new players, etc. In return we will recommend your corp to our graduates and you can advertise on our in game site (soonÖ).
Anyone who's willing to join and shape this project is also very welcome.

Edited by: Haxar on 15/03/2004 15:50:27 I missed at all PvP basics. Can even non-noobish (time related [well, 4 months]) players apply for a basic PvP training?
EDIT: The only thing i could show is how to take out 2 Guristas Infernos with a Blackbird.

I willing to help out in my spare time here no problem. I have had experience in almost all areas of EVE at some point or another with the exception of the politics (because I hate them). I wouldnt be looking to leave my corp but since I get days when its quiet I am happy to spend some time helping out newer players in eve.

Great idea.
If I can do something to help, let me know in game. I'm sure I could assist with lessons in combat and the risks involved with low sec space (and how to minimise them). Also pretty good at getting the most out of ship/modules, something that I know new players have problems with.
Unfortunately I am roidaphobic, so I can't help with mining, sorry. ______________________________________________
Never argue with idiots. They will just drag it down to their level, and then beat you through experience. |

That's great! The idea is that teachers are specialists in their own field, you don't have to know everything.
Most out of my modules? I just get my blasters in my right hand and wack people on the head with them. Isn't that why they are for close range? What's this ammo thing I've heard about? MM Channel "EVE University" www.eve-university.cjb.net (ingame) EVE University commercial |

I'll help with mining if you want. I'll be glad to run little gang (*cough* bangs *cough*) mines.

Awesome idea. I think our corporation can donate some BPOs that we're not really using (shuttles, certain ammunition even) that you can use in order to teach production stuff, and I could donate a bunch of small weapons and stuff I don't need. Very commendable work, but where do you plan on hosting this University? I'd suggest a system like Oursulaert, or a similar high-sec space a few jumps away from the super highway. Evemail me so that I can place it on escrow in the system of your choice.

Give me a week, and I'll donate some max run copes of the stuff new players will be needing. Namely weapons, drones, ammunition and frigate BPC's.
Can't think of anything witty to put here. |

You probably want to contact the corps who hold offices in the starter systems and see if they will donate an office for your corp, once you get established and start the program. I know that when I first started the game, the very first corporations I saw were the ones that had offices in the noob startup systems.
(EDIT) INCIDENTALLY: I would be interested in teaching advanced R&D/agent mission, market/manufacturing, or combat/ship outfitting/module related classes. I also used to run major 0.0 mining operations for my previous corp and could teach the basics of mining operation leadership. Send me an EVE-Mail and we can work something out . . .

I would be glad to help. N.A.C has been taking new members and educating them as long as we have been a corporation and having an organization to drive the education would be even better!
I would love to know what you have a need for as I would dedicate any time I could to help this cause.
Like Nik said earlier, we have a bunch of BPO's and modules that we aren't using. We could also provide other items if needed as we manufacture quite a few things that would be useful to newer players.

Edited by: Dust Puppy on 16/03/2004 09:12:19 Now we only got to find a lot of pupils
The problem is to reach the newbies, many of them don¦t read the forums. Also the recruitment channel is kind of useless. Any advertisment about the corp to newbies would be much appreciated
Edit: If megacorps would like newbies to go to "school" before joining they are ofcourse always welcome to. __________ Capacitor research |

I like your list of guest lecturers :). To be honest, when I was new I learned a lot from watching the Help channel and I always felt Skillz's post quite useful there.
Anyway, I made the channel "EVE University", join it for more info, if you want to help out answering general questions or if you are new and want to know how to join. I will put a set of rules for the channel and the corp on the site, hopefully by tomorrow night. Just try to be civil, no recruiting, no politics, etc. I'm sure you get the picture. I would get into contact with Polaris and see if they can help promote the University in some way. Evemail Eris Discordia or someone and see if they're game, and I'm sure that they'll at least consider it.

I was thinking of setting up a Minmatar Combat School and finding a similar Amarr school to declare war on so that newbies can have some training in PvP against poeple with similar skills. A nice bit of RP would be possible too.
