In my last dev blog, I mentioned the ISD program was undergoing changes and an increase in the size of the Community group. In recent e-mails and forum posts I have stated we are planning on a number of changes concerning the forums, both in rules and improvements, but have not been able to specify a deployment date.
At the end of tomorrow's (Thursday, 20 December) maintenance period for Tranquility, we will be deploying a number of forum improvements, a new Community Fansite page and changing our forum policies concerning warnings and bans.
The deployment of the changes also marks the last day of the volunteer forum moderation team, the Communications Relay Commission (CRC). In one form or another, they have been volunteering their time to ensure surfing the EVE forums are, for the most part, a fun and informative experience. EVE has grown tremendously under their watch and I feel they have played a role in that growth. Please join me in thanking them for their efforts.
Sorry I couldn't come up with a catchier title for the blog than Forum and Community Changes and Improvements.

And your first mail to link is broken.
And so is the link for submitting a fan site.
I wrote up the blog in Word and it would appear some of the formatting corrupted when I copied and pasted over to the blog editor. As for the link, I have no idea.
The errors have been fixed. Thanks for pointing them out.

Am I reading that incorrectly, or are you reducing the level of moderation on CAOD? That place is is an intolerable mess, a joke, and a pit of dreck (and actually stronger words would be appropriate, but banned). It desperately needs to be better moderated, doing everything from scrubbing 1-man alt corp posts to cutting out threadnaughts and off-topic spam posts before they gain momentum.
So little meaningful discussion goes on there that it's appalling. It needs a heavy mod presence.
I have edited the blog to clarify the section in question. Yes, CAOD will see heavier moderation, the RP forums will see a relaxation as long as post content is kept in character and directly related to EVE. Updated text below:

To the fine men and women of CRC it was an absolute pleasure working with you. Having met some of you, I cannot imagine a more dedicated, focused and ethical band of forum warriors exists.
We may move onto a new dawn but the new team have much to thank the old guard for.
Special congratulations to Jacques Archambault for leading CRC through these times despite many upheavals! For those that I have had the pleasure of dealing with threadnaughts at 3 am, I salute you o7.

Hey guys, its been a absolute pleasure (most of the time ) working with you. I have absolute confidence that the new team will be able to get the forums back to the caliber that it was at the high of CRC.
Thanks for all your emails of support for CRC over the time i have been in it, the fan threads, the hate threads and the threads which we have hi-jacked. They all go to contributing to a very interesting 14 months for me.
I have got to meet some awsome people within ISD and i wish them all the luck in wherever they go next.
This may indeed be the last time the man with the silly long name virtualy no one can say will be seen, i have become very attached to this name and i will be sad to see it go.
so ...
bye and be nice to each other in CAOD please
- Thanks Hutch. ____

ôWar is not the dreadful end to all things as mankind fears. Conflict brings balance to nature as it adapts, mutates, and transforms itself into something stronger than before. Mankind is the master of nature because we can choose those mutations on our own accord. We can accelerate the inevitable dominance of a species. Through war, we can make ourselves stronger at the time and place of our choosing. War is not hell, far from it. War is beautiful. War is divine.ö - Grand Admiral Mekioth Sarum, excerpt from a commencement speech to Paladin graduates of the Imperial Academy, 23215 AD |

I absolutely loved being a moderator here on these forums. More so then just moderating was the group of people I have met and will continue to work with going forward.
I will miss the CRC and those taking up the forum moderation I wish you the best of luck, because well frankly we all know you will need it

Originally by: Emily Spankratchet I, for one, welcome our new moderation overlords. I hope they do as good a job as ISD has done.
Two things make me post here:
1) As mentioned above by someone else, make sure the new moderators maintain the stickies in the forums. The ship fittings sticky in the Ships & Modules forum is already missing the new ship types.
2) Why do the new mods have blue bars on their posts? I don't want to belittle their role, but they're not really devs. Every time I click on a blue bar thread thinking "Hmm, dev content" I get to read "Locked, CCP Mitnal". Great dev content. This also makes a mockery of eve-search's dev post finder.
Personally I think that's one of the greatest lock messages of all time, perhaps only beaten by *click* Valorem.
Yes we will be updating the stickies, some have been, others have not, we will be getting around to them in due course.
As for the blue bars, normal administrative tasks should now not be highlighted on the forums. Maybe more colours will be introduced in the future to further differentiate between various groups.
