Get the following failed dependencies... pygtk2 >= 2.6 is needed by eve-000066-1.i386 dbus-python is needed by eve-000066-1.i386 I am not a linux expert by any stretch of the immagination; however after trying apt-get, package managers with different data bases, and downloading them via html with no luck I thought I would post here. I have tried googling and such for this info. Just not finding it. :(
farfrael	Posted - 2007.12.20 21:50:00 - [2] never heard of that distribution .... not trying to sound rude but if you are a beginner linux user, why not use one of the more "mainstream" distributions (Fedora, Suse, Ubuntu, Mandriva) instead of what seems like yet another fly-by-night distro? They will have a package for pygtk. (even slackware has got a pygtk package!) If you want to stick with your distribution and really cannot find such a package, the solution is to go to the PyGTK website, download the sources, compile them and install

I have tried googling and such for this info. Just not finding it. :( The dbus-python MUST be installed AND the dbus-daemon MUST be running. If the dbus-daemon is NOT running, the splash screen will show and then EVE will seem to "crash". It actually doesn't crash. the wineserver will continue to run, which might propogate frustration as any more attempts to execute against the wineserver will be fruitless.

About 20 seconds after posting this I found the dbus problem. I have been compiling pythons from source for about 10 minutes now (just woke up). Was trying to avoid downloading and compiling all 46187236581234 versions of python in order to update and update and update to the required one. :P Speaking of user-friendly/mainstream distros anyone curious may want to check out http://www.pclinuxos.com/ It us user friendly (not complete idiot friendly) and has a gui for most things. Pretty handy for me as after a couple of hours in the console I start dir/w/p -ing things.

Every time I download the dependencies for a dependency there have been 3-7 dependencies for each dependencies dependency. It is pretty dizzying stuff. Just going to try wine.
Anarine	Posted - 2007.12.23 15:49:00 - [6] I'm not an expert on PCLOS, far from it, but I believe that it uses the APT installation method. I had a problem with one of the Ubuntu package managers that refused to install dependancies, so I used "dselect"... The Eve client was on the "To install" list, and just selecting Install automatically selected all the dependancies needed, and here I am running the official client. If you have dselect on your distribution, try it, but I don't know if it is included in PCLOS... Good luck!
