If (for whatever reason) I want to pack all my stuff into one package vie courier contract, can I do it without another character ?
I.e. is there a way to set a courier contract in such a way you yourself can use it ?

I don't see any reason why the system would deny the creation of such contract.

Except, you don't get an option to accept it. Not with corp-wide contracts, at least.

It's not ideal but you could create the contract with an alt and claim it with whatever character you want to move it with. I don't believe there is a way to create a courier contract for yourself.

Why not create the contract with an absurdly high collateral and no reward? I'm pretty sure no one would accept it. ---------------- Tarminic - 30 Million SP in Forum Warfare Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.76.2 |

Yep, except, you can't accept it either.
You get "delete" button in place of "accept".

Sure, but I'd prefer to avoid using an alt, if possible.

Cargo scanners scan right through containers and plastic wraps so that can't be the reason.

Actually, he could be carrying tons of stuff, and using cans may not be practical.
E.G if he is carrying multiple setups of 6-7km3, its useless wasting cargo space on cans, but contracts nicely tie all loose ends intoa package.
Cargo scanners scan everything, so if you are traveling with pimp loot - Always carry tons of junk modules to throw the pirate off track into thinking you are carrying crap.

Just on a side note - are you sure about plastic wraps ?
Some reasons are pretty simple - sometimes you need to haul a huge ammount of different stuff to plural locations, and it's pretty annoying when they all get mixed inside the cargohold.

And why exactly would you want to ?
Must be some reason the system does not allow you to accept it... ;)

hehe well i am just guessing it's something to do with secure transpotation, perhaps courier contracts can only be opened by the person that accepts/gives it? or they 100% pop if you get ganked or something *yawns* -------------------------------------------- Threads are stacking-nerfed; the more posts you add the less effective those posts are. mooooooo. |

Edited by: Gorthauran on 21/12/2007 03:10:38 Contract the item to an Alt, then have the alt make the Courier for your main as contracts can be made on items in other stations from anywhere.
EDIT- Should say once the contract has been delivered, have the alt contract items back to the main.

you could say that:)
I am more worried about the contracts I place with collaterals - that might be lesser than the value of the items inside :p
for the hyper smart, I have 12 alts - and I might not do the same again:p
to repeat the question, can someone else open the shrink wrap and access my stuff?
I will try this later today myself and update on this thread!

I think I've broken a courier contract from myself to my alt, and yes my alt could open the package... (not 100% sure and can't log in atm...)
Waiting to see what you find, or i'll just try it again when I get home ____________________ Hi. I'm not an alt :) |

Cargo scanners ignore shrinkwrap, they can see what is in the package. Secondly, anyone can repackage a package, and get what's inside.
I find it *extremely* amusing that pirates know more about the details of courier missions and their security of the packages than carebears do.

Those accepting the contract are able to open the plastic wrap (without breaking the contract) and see whats inside. I have had a few people that couriered secure containers, in which I wasn't able to open them and see what was inside.

You can still load it in a ship, undock and have it scanned.

heres how you do it.
1) Take the stuff, and contract it to an alt as a straight item exchange 2) log onto the alt and accept above mentioned contract 3) Now, take the stuff again and set up a courier contract to your main or with an insanely high collateral. 4) log back onto your main 5) Find that courier contract you just put up 6) accept 7) haul 8) done.

So far your are the 3rd person in this thread who has decided to enlighted me about alts...
And a 2nd to make it after I clearly posted I'm fully aware of alts, and ask for exactly the opposite - a way to set up such a contract without alts.

I think the assumption is that you can agree to terms with yourself without the need for an external mechanic.
No, you cannot create courier contracts that the same character can claim. _____________________________________________

No you can't. A scanner won't scan inside a container inside a plastic wrap. The scan would show (Secure Container: 1), not what's inside the container.
Then again, you can't use a container anymore for a courier contract either so that doesn't work (planck generator bla bla bla messsage comes up when you try).

is it my fault you are too stubborn to use this method? Seriously, theres no mechanic that exists where u can assign a contract to yourself. Its nonsensical tbqfh. USe the methods we're suggesting or quit crying, imo.
