Title says all. What's the best freighter? I'd like to find that out before I commit to buying one.

Charon is best for cargospace, if you want agility, go for the minmatar one.

Realistically speaking, all 4 freighters are pretty much the same. There's a few minor differences in max velocity, agility, HP, and cargo space but the magnitude of difference is so small that it's insignificant.
Best advice is to pick the races that has the best haulers and transport ships that suit your need first and then go after your freighter.

The better question is, what other industrial ships does that race have?
Pick your freighter based on the transport ship that's going to go with it.
Because chances are, some time you're going to want to fit out a blockade runner, and it's not going to be your freighter.
My choice: Obelisk.
All the freighters are essentially going to be the same: slow with tons of cargo.
Think about the low sec and null sec transporting you might want to do in the future.
That was the deciding factor for my freighter choice.

Obelisk is the worst freighter on the basis that everyone has one and it's extremely ugly.
so get a Charon...

Charon-top cargo (up to 980k), best shields
Obelisk-max raw HP due to typical large Gallente structure HP.
Minmatar-fast (lulz), but comes with an excellent blockade runner in the Prowler.
Amarr-most armor HP, might possibly exceed the Obelisk with HG Slaves.

more usefullness with training(the iteron takes industrial 5 anyways)-ob.
