Anshar will be contracted for 24 hours to the winning bidder in an undisclosed high-sec system in Minmatar space.
Auction ends at 23:00 on 1/7/08 with a 1 hour sniper rule.
Bidding starts at 5b with 250m min bid increments and no reserve beyond the initial bid.

I thought the build costs were at 6-7B, even after invention? I haven't done any production though, so I'm just going off what I saw in the other forums.

Those were probably if you were using the worst case ME bpc and/or at the very high prices for advanced materials we saw just after the patch was released. 5b is just the starting point, but I know a lot of people are very interested in seeing where things go from there, myself particularly.

tbh if it goes for close to 5b I'll be surprised. Using a me-2 bpc and its still costing a lot more than that. Great price if you are a buyer.

what's the point in bidding on this auction more than 2 days before it ends? especially if there's no buyout, it's almost a month long, and nobody has reliable market info on the item in question? i guess it's a good PR blitz, but rest assured, with the carri-err...freighter nerf, these things are gonna sell like hotcakes to rich players

Well there's two reasons. For one, it gives everyone a head's up that they've got two weeks left to get their motherships sold to free up cash for this.
The other point is that myself and other producers aren't moving quickly on making 2nd or 3rd freighters until we can get a better idea of how much they're going to sell for and what the profit in them is. Being the first auction, the higher the bid gets the more likely others will build more, and eventually bring prices down.

I'm very curious how this will end. The other Anshar auction reached it's buyout of 8.5B quickly. Considering this has no pre-set buyout, I wonder how high it'll go.

It is not like these are of any REAL limited supply (well, maybe they are kind of rare for now, but it will be so for very short period of time), like officer loot for example. I personally think the auction IS TOO LONG as before the end of auction there will be 10 more people selling anshars and 100 more people doing the same in two weeks.
If I was the OP... I would set buyout to reasonable amount (9.5?) and run with ISK laughin if somebody actually claims it :)
Also... there is one for 10b on contracts now.

After thinking about it some, I would be more than happy to accept a 9.5b buyout. As the ship won't be finished until the 7th, I'd want a reasonable 1b isk deposit to keep you from walking away from the deal. Use of Chribba's services to hold onto the deposit would be acceptable as well.

Only 3 days left on this. Just today another Anshar went for 10b buyout in an in-game auction, at least I assume it has as the contract is now gone.

Bid retracted as i was able to get a Anshar at build cost through one of my Industrial contacts. The price was, well, substantially lower. I apologize for this an is the first time i have ever retracted a bid on any item in almost 2 years.
