think it's actually a flash player problem and not CCP's problem. ---

I've had this problem for a week or so myself, a bit of flash on the front page seems to lock the browser up for me. Been working around it by simply not visiting the front page |

*edit* This only started when I last updated btw, most recent firefox, flash, on a fresh install of windows. Don't take it like it's some kind of god damn attack against firefox fan boys.

Edited by: Karma on 23/12/2007 00:07:09 I re-installed windows (complete with format c) about a week ago... had this problem ever since. (even re-did the whole reinstallation to rule out a miss)...
other flash-sites also makes firefox take up an abnormal amount of resources... but only eve-online.com break it's will to live.

Exactly, this is a fresh windows install, with the latest Firefox.
Something is stinky here.

Flashblock add-in works wonders. On those very few occasions where you need flash content you can activate it with a single click

Edited by: Faydelm on 23/12/2007 00:38:31 The problem is the latest Adobe Flash release. I installed an older version from here and now I don't hang on the front page anymore
Get it here: Old Version
btw uninstall your newer version first.

This.
The new version of flash makes sites with flash content lag like hell, older version fixes it. __________________

Old news.
Same answer, it's not CCP but the latest version of Adobe's flash player. This has even been said here in these self same forums.

Well I blocked the Trinity flash animation at the top of the page and my problems have gone away, so yes it is a problem with Adobe Flash Player.

Adblock plus does exactly the same thing, just scan through the blockable items list and find .swf's
Usually flash objects have adblock tabs hooked to them anyway though.

This. I updated to the latest Adobe Flash and it was crashing Firefox on lots of websites. I solved the problem by going back to the previous versions. You can get older versions from the Adobe website link here. Make sure you uninstall the version you're using just now (both IE and Firefox) then restart and install the version 8 ones.

Seriously, get flashblock. The number of flash banners, animations and crap that eat CPU made me install it. |

I had the same problem.
Vista and XP desktops are fine, XP notebook got this bug.
Some pages made both IE7 and FF hiccup but for some reason the EVE forums page always, I mean 100% of the time caused my notebook to lock up compeltely requiring a hardboot. Even if I had viewed the page earlier without rebooting and was sitting idle at my desktop it would cause a random crash.
I installed that Flash Blocker for Mozilla and have been fine ever since. For IE I just blocked Flash and it to seems to be fine.
