So as somebody who doesn't know very much about moon mining would it be possible to get the materials to make parts of the antimatter reactor unit in lowsec moons? Or are those parts reserved for 0.0?

Care to share your intel about that "monopoly holder" that holds all neodym / dispo moons that are scattered all over EVE?
There aren't many, I know, but securing them all is quite a bit of trouble.
There was the odd market manipulation and the reactions raised because of increased demand vs fixed supply, yes. The spikes for built components though were really just a production shortage / scarcity issue as a full months worth of component production from one BPO is eaten away by 3-4 T2 BS combined with the fact that it is a niche market with not enough undercutting parties to get those spiked down again in a timely fashion. -- [17:47] <Mephysto> its dead, jim |

How are they made anyway?
They come from the moons. The parts needed to make the reactor units are also exceedingly expensive, and I lack the know how and standing to make mining POSes.
Moon minerals and reaction can be done only in the low sec POS and so the problem is not standing but firepower.
Some widely used moon minerals has a low production and an increasing demand (the new T2 shiips and the increased T2 production) againsta steady supply, so higher prices.

Don't you have to have standing with the race whose lowsec it is to deploy a POS in lowsec though?

No, only if the sec status is 0.4+ and then your corporation need standing equal the sec status x10, i.e. 4 in 0,5, 5 in 0,5 ecc.
From what I heard some dysprosium moons have changed hands in the last weeks, so it has added a further shortage. In the market forum there are several thread about the moon situation.

Ah okay, thanks for the tips. And this is probably a dumb question but is it possible to moon mine in .4 space? The ancient guide in This thread says that you can only mine in .3 and below, but the moon mining arrays themselves say .4 in the attributes. Did they change it or is this still true?
Sorry for the bump but I'd really like to know the answer to this.

I don't know anything about this stuff (postcount++) but the increase in price of base components may have come from the resent destabilization of a large portion of the southern moon-mining operations.

Demand has gone up massively due to new stuff and more invention.
Supply has gone down due to huge numbers of moon mining towers being popped in the last month or two down South, most recently by Pandemic Legion and Mostly Harmless, previously in the cleansing of Feyth/Paragon/Eso.

I'm 99.99% sure it's 0.3 and below, the "restricted security level: 0.4" would mean "it's restricted from 0.4 upwards".
For a POS in 0.3 you don't really need a lot of standings, but it's probably hard to find a worthwhile moon in empire...

uh his post is after the patch came and speculation for this type of thing was going on months beforehand if you had any amount of money to speak of and even the poorer people and then the masses came into it the weeks and days before patch
some things went up 500-1000% and some other things went up much more and even if you didnt go around the test server you would be able to pick 100 items where if 10 stayed even or went down in prices the rest would outshine the losses multiple times
fortunes are made from patches Trashed sig, Shark was here |
