I am ordering in 10 jump radius, roughly 100 orders. Pressing my assets isnt something i prefer atm.. I go aorudn it by using the search option to find specific amounts or items, and then courier the rest with it. I can see some serieus improvements that would improve my fun and handling alot:
1. remote reprocessing skillbook (plz plz, i hate to have 50 stations with 1 or 2 items) 2. in the asset search, make it possible to search also for specific stations or systems. 3. courier runs from multiple stations as a contract should be possible 4. when u courier from the search/asset screen u need too select all items (in my case 100 diff +) why not make a "select all" at the bottom of the courier screen when they list the items in a station. 5. selling of mutiple different items/minerals at once. (saves so much time: select al items and simply sell. that u sell below market that is your choice, risk then), every reprocess gives 5 or more minerals, being able to sell them all at once cuts down used time with 500% 6. I can remotly adjust price and place orders, but i cant increase amount of items i like too order. Would make a perfect skillbook, same with remote reprocessing. 7. courier services are done by players, some other form of payed transport for huge amounts of stations too 1 central point woudl be amazing (no ideas how myself alas) 8. orders that get 100% filled i cant find back. i have to go through alot of orders and items too find out which orders expire or are 100% filled and therefor disappear from my sight. A history on orders that expire , get cancelled or are 100% filled woudl be amazing help
thsi is my first post , i put some serieus thinkign time in it, i hope it makes sense, i love eve as a game since i started 3 months ago. these improvement seem sensible to me and would help me alot!
maybe i dont know every option in game and some points are possible, if thats the case plz let me know !!!!

Edited by: Daphne Eveningstar on 24/12/2007 20:18:39 Mostly good ideas here! CCP the Market/inventory/orders interface needs a small amount of minor work to improve the operation for dedicated traders and reduce the need for window flipping and displaying/requesting unneeded data, and to help prevent basic errors in order entry.
I would also propose the creation of a "basic" or "light" market interface for the 85% of people that don't need to place orders. Something that just shows the current buy/sell price so that when you have this option enabled, it doesn't have to give you all 168 open orders for that item.
Remote Repackage/Refine, open remote holds and cargo containers too FTW!
#3 Courier runs multiple pickups 1 dropoff FTW!
Asset screen improvements needed! I want to see items I own in other regions, excluding my current.
I also really really want these 3 little things:
a) color code MY orders on the market details screen. We already have code to order certain orders within a valid buy radius.
b) 1-click easy order updating, to increment my buy/sell to the best price +/- an adjustable increment (ie 0.01).
c) 1-click order entry, create my orders with the best buy/sell price +/- an adjustable increment.
Getting burned on a decimal point typo in a frenzied market is no fun. Modern trading software for the real markets includes such amenities, can we get a little help!
Would also like to have the main order entry screen have bigger more prominent text for the important numbers.
Cmon CCP give us some love!

An Orders Log would be a great help, something that showed the total fees for each order, with all the broker's fees visible.

Yet another bump to the great market interface improvements thread.
I would like another sidebar tab on the main market screen, one showing your active orders with hot-link functionality to the market details (like searching, you click on the item and it immediately load up the details.)
Having to either keep my wallet open with my orders, or flip between the wallet/orders tab in the market view, isn't optimal.
Also, when a transaction closes the associated buy/sell order I would like it highlighted in the transactions log so I can easily find things I'm needing to re-order. This would be really great!

Some very basic functionality improvements in the market screens would be very much appreciated.

Edited by: Tendu on 22/01/2008 03:33:09 ll UI most be rebuild, not only the market.
But for the market : - highlight your own orders - permit to modify/cancel your orders in the list window - filters orders by number of jumps (outside region) - filter low sec station option - in buying order window : filter low sec station option - can choose different filter (region, number of jump, and so) for BUY and for SELL orders - player make folders in the bookmark section (ie : AMMO, SHIPS, TRADING....)

I fell asleep twice before I got all my orders updated this evening so I'm bumping this with a quote from another thread
Originally by: Daphne Eveningstar I think we're all sick of tedium in the market. The tedium that is checking and rechecking and rechecking dozens or hundreds of orders.
I don't believe there is anything wrong with the system of timing between order modifications, or with being able to set the price at the level you want and take your chances.
This all being said, I think the common element ringing throughout this thread is "keeping on top of my orders is tedious mind numbing work"
Let's address the tedium and leave the market alone ok?
I've suggested several things in a Features thread that just seems to drop to page 10 immediately because that forum is a graveyard. But let me just touch on a few of them here:
1: flipping between market screens is tedious eye-watering repetitive work. Any which way you work it you have to flip between at least 2 or 3 screens or make several mouse clicks to compare your price to the market price.
a) I have suggested highlighting my own orders in the Market Details screen so I can see exactly where my positions stand.
b) Allow me to right click and modify or cancel my own highlighted orders directly from the Market Details screen
c) when I have modified an order put a timer next to it indicating how long until I can change it again. I'd even go as far as to put the 4-minute bar or countdown timer next to every visible order that has been changed in the last 4 minutes so I can see who the players are easily.
2: Placing and modifying an order is tedious and risky and when you are juggling 200 orders you are bound to eventually make costly errors. To date, my biggest market f-up has been to the tune of $70m with a single keystroke.
a) when you open an advanced order, automatically set the price to the best price and allow editing and mouse-wheeling from there. Don't make me key in a 18 digit number just to set my initial position at the best price.
b) when you go to modify an order, the first bump of the mouse wheel should adjust my price to the best position, with normal behavior afterwards. I hate having to squint and rekey my entire price just because some jerk wants to undercut me by exactly 754.38 each bid. (note--these may be the "bots" to look out for, who else does that kind of math in on the fly in their head )
c) I am even in favor of 1-click order modification ("modify to best price") or something like that.
The net result of this is at least a 50% savings in time spent verifying your positions. You keep your quickbar up-to-date, click each item one time, quickly and easily adjust your positions, and move to the next item or go about your business.
This leaves you free to enjoy the operation of your trade strategy without the tedium. I believe these minor additions to the market functionality will go a very long way in reducing the major complaint I hear echoing throughout this thread.

What I wouldn't give for another page/tab for the market, sort of a combination of the quickbar, and the price history. I mean I'd <3 a screen where I can see the prices of all 8 minerals at once, without having to look at each one individually. (and being able to export that would just be sex on a stick)
I just look at all the external tools for production/market users and think there could be so much added in game.
Even a simple calculator where you drop down the BPO, and it lists the components and their buy/sell price giving you an estimate of production cost. I have a simple program which does this, but I have to feed it mineral prices, and it would be much nicer to have ingame.

Just wait until you have to update 300 orders ;)
A couple points: 1) Remote reprocessing is interesting, but I'd say it should be limited to your region, like the other trade skills. I'd also like to see a remote stack-splitting skill that doesn't require the use of the Contracts window (not sure if it was ever added to the assets context menu). It should also be in the context menu for items in the current station, so you don't *need* to shift-click.
2) Asset search should definately be more powerful, and I think it should be able to find items in containers or mounted on ships as well. Being able to sort and tally the results or export it to an CSV would be ideal.
3) I think setting up a courier run might be complicated enough as it is. I like how simple it is to set up now, especially when it's done through the assets window.
4) I'm not sure if this is the case with Courier missions, but I know certain contracts won't accept 100+ different item types. Shift-clicking an entire list from the contracts window is a bug I've reported a couple times and still haven't seen resolved. Only if you shift-click a list from the assets window are ALL the items correctly selected.
5) Selling more than one item is a job for Contracts. The market is for individual items, which can all be adjusted individually. Highlight All-Sell might lead to more disasters than benefits. You only need to accidentally select your T2 Mod can once for this to lead to much pain. Believe me, I've done dumb things with Select All->Reprocess. T2 1400mms and faction shield hardeners don't reprocess enough to make up for their market value.
6) Please, no. The markets are at a point where they're just easy enough to manipulate without too much risk. Being able to adjust quantities without cancelling an order just makes it too easy to drive up prices without commiting anything for it. I'd also like to see them stop resetting the duration every time an order is changed. 90D means 90 Days, not "90 Days or until you modify the price by .01 isk". Longer durations should also cost more to post.
7) The Less NPC interaction in the market, the better. Automating the process amounts to price-fixing the courier trade, providing an artificial ceiling that can be earned. Let the players decide what the value of moving goods should be, and if you can't get something moved it's probably because you're not paying enough or asking for too much collateral. I dislike the idea of Interbus, except in very limited cases (within constellations only, for example)
8) A history of Orders would be nice, as well as being able to see specific details of a transaction in the journal logs. "X bought something from you" is a completely worthless description. Add details like "2008.02.02 12:05 Sell Order placed: 100 Units of Pyerite @ 5.0 ISK 90 Day Duration in Jita 4-4 Station" or "2008.02.02 12:05 Ricky Martin bought 2500 Units of EMP L @ 200 ISK per unit from Jita 4-4. +500000 ISK"

all good ideas... i especially like the remote reprocessing skills.. cant tell you how many times I have had friends want me to hop 80 zillion jumps to reprocess loot... most the of the time I have to ignore their requests.. at least this makes it regionally possible..
Since this is a loot related... ill add one more thing to the list of requests.
Allow a "meta level" item sorting column in the inventory list/details window.. So I know which my of loot is junk for reprocessing and which I need to sell or use for invention, without having to dig through 10,000 items every single time I do the "sell/keep/reprocess" ritual.

Bumping this.
I would like a filter drop-down item for regions at the top of My Orders, so I could select to show a) orders in this region, b) orders in all regions, c) orders in other regions.
Same thing would be great for Assets too. Lose a couple tabs and put in a drop down filter thingy.
Assets also desperately needs a "expand all groups" and "close all groups" menu option so you can expand all stations or collapse all stations quickly and easily.

That is a good one imo.
Also, I'd really appreciate it if CCP added a confirmation box, if you modified your order price to 50% above the regional average. They added the confirmation box to below 50% of the regional average, but why not above? I recently lost several billions by accidentally adding an extra zero, while modifying an order.
Oh, and how does reprocessing relate to trading?

Something that would help me a great deal with courier contracts would be the ability to select a group of items in the Assets page and right-click -> "Calculate market value" for the whole group, using my current region's best sell prices.
This would be quite handy when I have 13 different items that I want to ship in one location, so I wouldn't have to look up the price for each item and do all that complicated maths.
