Hey guys, my cousin had an alt on my account. I let him play for a day, gave him some skill training time, and he instantly fell in love with Eve. He told me that when Christmas came around and he got his new computer, he'd set up his account instantly, transferring his beloved character into his own account, and zoning out to our zombie-like Eve tendencies.
Well, I just set up and paid for his account's first month and I transfered his character over as his Christmas present. The thing is... That's a pretty hard thing to gift wrap...
So I'd like to ask you guys how I'd go about putting the Eve client on a blank CD...? I don't exactly have a whole lotta experience in burning stuff onto CD's (I've done it before though, and I got the blank CD's). So what exactly do I burn onto this CD? Should I just kinda move my whole Eve folder onto the disc? I plan on just doing the classic version; it's just something that I can wrap up in a jewel case and be like "Hey! You already have your character training skills AND you don't have to wait and download the client!"
Any help would be appreciated :D

I think you should be good to go just by copying your eve folder to a CD but you can make it smaller by not copying your chatlogs and other rubbish like that, save a fair bit of space if you've been playing long.

You will need to burn to a CD the "Classic Graphics Content" package found in:
http://www.eve-online.com/download/windows.asp
It's around 600MB (although there is a typing error and it says 6GB lol). If you try to burn the contents of your /eve folder, as they are un-compressed, they will took more than 1 GB so won't fit in a single CD. Your cousin will just need to install eve as usual, login with the name/password you already paid and there will be the new char he created and all stuff (it's stored in the server).

Yeah I know all about that stuff that's stored in the server, that's my problem! I can't gift wrap CCP's Server and give it to him and say "Your character is in there somewhere!"
I'd figure I could wrap up the client that I put on a CD and put a little note in there saying that the real present is on the server, ya know? I just need something to wrap up and I figured that the client on a CD would be a good idea.

ditto on burning Classic install exe onto a CD.
Also, you could spice it up with a real physical GTC from CCP. Trust me, those physical scratch-to-get-timecode cards are a great way to start someone off with something so collectible -

I think X-mas Eve is a little late for doing that. It takes how many months to get something from the Eve store?

Could just try typing the URL to DL the client - Put it in a text file, save it to the CD, and give that to him.
Why not?...
