Edited by: Bat''Leth on 24/12/2007 21:40:17 Edited by: Bat''Leth on 24/12/2007 21:36:58 Wow messed up that post...
The question... How do I know what I have found? When I drop a multispectral in a system and it returns a radar and an unknown, I load up with radar probes, and go off scanning. Problem is, I get 3-4+ "deadspace signatures" that come up and after getting solid locks on all of them and finding all jump gates, i bookmark them all, get a combat ship, go back and clean them out... and yet NOTHING... no idea what to hack, or what to "dig for". Perhaps i am missing some vital datalink that was sent and missed me somehow, but please bear with me.
questions:
1: Does a hacking or archaeology site appear as a deadspace location on my scan? or something different? 2: Do they always appear as red diamonds in my overview so i know what to go for? (this is something i have heard but have never gotten clarification on) 3: Is there any way to determine what is what as far as looking at scan results to see which response is an unknown versus a hacking site?
I thank you all in advance for your input. Happy holidays to you and yours.
Cheers.

You cant See the Difference, a Scanprobe can allways find The Type its Labeled, Unknowns and soemtimes if you have good Skills also otehr Types if present at the System. If you find a Site for Hacking/Arachaeology and you fly to it you can see some Buildings with Container Symbols. You can also take a look into your Systems Map it will Show you the Name of The Site. Hacking is Mostly Labeled as Profession - Hacking, and Arachaeology is Labeled as Profession - Arch/Sal. Not all Sites are easy to find, tehre are some Hacking sides that have low Sigs so you sometimes need Hours to find them.

1) Hacking sites will always show up as Radar signatures; Archeology/Salvage sites will always show up as Magnetometric signatures; Deadspace complexes will always show up as Unknown signatures.
To add to this, once you've actually nailed down the site and warp to it, zoom back to the system map. It will now show a map note telling you exactly what site it is, like "Hacking Base 3 Low Sec Serpentis" if you tracked down a Radar signature in a lowsec system.
Also, another good way to tell if you've found the "Unknown" site in a system is if, when you go to the site, there's a warp gate (the kind you see in missions). I've heard mention of a few Radar sites having gates, but those are only supposed to be in the 0.0 gas cloud regions (I haven't experienced this myself, so I can't confirm it as more than hearsay).
2) When you're in a hack or arcsal site, any container that will require you to use a module successfully on it before you can loot it will be a white diamond, not red. They will also have names relevant to the module needed to open them, as well as mentioning the related module in the container info.
3) Until you've nailed down a site, you have no way to know what it is you're scanning down. I've actually scanned down a Gravimetric site using Radar probes. The system had a Radar, Grav, and Unknown signature. Thought I was scanning down the Radar and Unknown, but I was wrong =P. ---

Also remember if you are looking for exploration sites DO NOT click "Cosmic Anamoly", those are encounter sites.
You won't find near as many "unknowns" that way by accident.

i did manage to track down that site yesterday and got about 10-15m isk worth of stuff out. All donated to my corp, so no personal profit. Currently working on my first mag site... having a little trouble, but the information has really helped allot. Thanks again. Happy Holidays
