What's the point in making a thread with a link that points to ...umm... nothing ? |

thats the most sensible csm i have seen to date.
take about 1.2 seconds to read..but contains as much goodness as the other csm's that take half a day to decode.

it's called a placeholder
the reason why we put it up there is so that people know where to go to read the log when it's up.
we seem to have this discussion every week for some reason

Seemed like a waste of time today unless you care about mining.
It was nice to see Keiron telling someone to stfu though ----------------------------------------- [2003.12.17 06:35:20] Corwin > Orvolle is .4? Doesn't that mean that it's less than .5 ? and isn't .5 what starts the danger level? [2003.12.30 07:15:50] Corwin > Tech 2, IE expanded cargo holds I, MIning lasers 2, etc.... TL2 is being released all around you [2003.12.30 07:21:20] Corwin > tech 2 is released to players. Some players are busy researching the BPs before building stuff. Others are sitting on the BPs making copies to make money off of them that way |

your not far wrong there...... i think i preferd the blank place holder.
is this CSM considered the main method of interaction between CCP and the Players ? if so it strikes me as being a bit **** poor.
(if you disagree read MD's post at the bottom...sums it up luvly)
wish i had a job like kieron's. from what i gather he hasnt even been to nIceland yet....all he has to do is post once on the forum and then turn up once a week for a CSM to tell people to stfu.
i can do that....with knobs on.

PLEASE force people to pre-submit their questions!!!!
That was tried for the final session of the CSM I participated in and was a total failure. We were to pre-submit 3 questions each.
They were *very* late in answering them.
They didn't answer all of them(skipped over the "real" questions, stuck mostly to fluff)
We were given no chance to rebut answers or ask for further explanations.
In short, it didn't work.

poor csm, to much chitty chat.
The people in the csm should try and focus on the questions, not on a discussion about them. Better move the csm to irc. +m for channel +v for devs +v for the _one_ csm rep that has the floor The list for the reps in alphabetical order is the queue for questions. The rep that asks the question get's +v till the devs say next question. There's really no need for others to comment on it. Nor need for stupid remarks during the session.
Might be helpfull if the reps have to submit questions few days before the csm, and kieron has a look at them and maybe talks to the reps about the question.
The amount of info we get is just not big enough for a 2 hour session, it really needs to be "streamlined" |

doesn't matter. Then, it'd their fault
now its the delegates' fault (well some anyway)

I noticed a lot of "snark" in this CSM. I hope this doesn't become the norm.
I think a good discussion is far better than a quick firing of nonsense questions. Surely you can see that.
I'm from EnB before EVE. There, Dev chats were once every 6 weeks. They were rapid-fire question after question after question that just got the Soon(tm) answer every time. There was no back and forth, no discussion, no hashing-out of issues, and generally, it wasn't a useful exercise for any involved.
To be clear, these chats are WEEKLY and even if they were only about one topic, it is far better to have a good discussion on that one topic than on 50 topics.
To be honest, I think I'd like to see kieron or one of the Devs take a more active role in steering the conversation. For example: "We're thinking about X, what do you think?" and get some feedback and ideas. That way, the chats can revolve around things that are actively in development, not pie-in-the-sky stuff (though a little pie is always good).
My thoughts.

CSM is the wrong place for Discussion they should be used to bring something to the devs attention. If there's a discussion needed, it should happen here on the forums, where more than 8 ppl can give their input.
That's just my opinion. And btw, TomB for example does a great job with these discussion threads...... so it seems to work. |

LOL! I thought they gave it up completely after the first failed attempt with us =D
I had no idea they were still forcing you to pre-submit, as the CSM chats appear just as disorganized and chaotic as ever.

I agree, a csm is a chance for players to raise an issue to the devs attention not discuss it... leave that for the boards where we can all have a chance to imput on it.

Yea, the comments are annoying, slow, and add very little for the time they take. It's also clear that most people can't help but make them.
The easy answer to this is gag everyone but the person asking the question. These chats would become so much more useful then...

Wow.. what crap.
I apologize to any of the CSM attendees.. but you managed to spend 45% of the time of the CSM talking about MINING.. FREAKING MINING.
It may not be 100% perfect, but its doing just fine other then alot of other things!
For instance, security status raisings. The weekly/daily decay was taken out, and replaced with a 10 minute timer intervul in order to gain a pinch of Security Rating - forcing someone to only be able to gain .04 in an ENTIRE day of NPCing.
There is a LIST of more important stuff then mining.. which is why this angers me so much.
*wishes Pann didn't reject myself or Synex to attend the CSM as EVE-DB reps.*

My only complaint is that Caleb is a timehog, would love for him to shut his dunghole for two seconds so we could get a couple more questions in.
In fact, the whole thing with the @ comments is BS, if you want to comment on a previous question, you should have to use your own question time. The @ commentary is just an excuse for people who love to hear themselves yap yap yap (like Caleb) to get in their two cents (or in Caleb's case, $200,000) at every opportunity and on every subject.
Caleb, please for the love of Jesus H., SHUT THE HELL UP.

Edited by: Rancid Mare on 17/03/2004 20:16:39 is it just me or do other people think that its all part of the same issues, that being the lack of interaction in general.
despite the fact people are debating the whole csm issus and on a day the csm was performed and logs released to the players....
i find it odd that not even a single person from ccp has managed to take the time to reply or get invovled.
if i was the community manager i whould be all over the forums like a rash. i whould have my own "Rancids Corner" section of the forum so i can look after the community directly. i whould deffinatley be on the forums after a csm to discuss matters discussed with the larger community.
i dont dig this hands off approach.

Gota be worst CSM ever, agree with cao cao totally @ comments took up way to much time.
Hellmars comments on ming... er? wot game u playing? reason belts r stripped n so on in empire space/hig sec ssytems is it takes all that work jsut to make any isk out of it at all, corp jsut finsihed 4 day mining op in .5 for isk return of 40mil so far as mex is pain to sell cos market needs some seasrous re working.
fix the market n rest of the game get it balnced n everthing else will fall into place instead of nerfing everthing in site.
Death's shadow is here to judge you it has fallen over u, feel its embrace. |
