I suppose this is the best place to ask this question. What are the guidelines that someone should follow for naming characters. I imagine traditional names from the origins would have survived. I notice however the uniques names that are out of the ordinary in the eve universe and would like to know if there is a naming system that is "official" which I can reference if I were to write a story. Also I could not find the specific rules and requirements for submitting stories. Could someone point me in the right direction?

I'd say the secret is having a first and last name. Pilots with one word for a name must have had no families, or maybe they were cloned in a factory.

Of course, if you're Detris, there are plenty of those.
You can try looking at agent names and names in chrons to get an idea of the general feel . . . but beyond that, there are no official guidelines. ________________________________ This is not a signature. |

I know that the Caldari generally have Japanese/Russian sounding names.
The Gallente are French descendants, so something Gallic would suit them.
A couple threads here suggest that the Amarr have Arabic influences and I know the Minmatar are stated to be based off Icelandic and other Scandinavian folk.

I'd say that the Caldari are more like Finno-Japanese. A lot of their names sound a lot like Finnish.
The Gallente are indeed French, but there are a lot of ways to go with this. If you deliberately go for a french-sounding name, try not to stereotype your character too much.
Minmatar can either be given Nordic names or one can simply go wild and throw a bunch of Ts, Ks and Gs together.
Amarr are a strange mix of Arabic, Persian and Roman influences. Go whichever way you feel.
