Looks very good to me. Brings the eve website from something that looked like it was made in 2002(and probably was) into 2012 and the next generation of websites, and really shows off the game much better to new players. I was very impressed by the star map and ship viewer. Could information be ordered slightly better? Maybe, yes, but really, I couldn't find a thing on the old site anyways. |

eve is pretty complicated, thats why i was a fan of having listed in one place and thus easy to find: you know its in there.
Now it takes a good while to click everything and find what you are after, I dont mind new things for new and old players general improvments. This new one is pretty to look at for sure, no doubt, gotta just get used to it (or make more BMs :P) |

Well, not bad, looks fine in the IGB...then went to check the videos section... hoLY CRAP it shows the VIDEO, first and only thing that went in my head was, finally browser supports videos...sadly it never moved from 1st frame...dammnit all.
Really hoped for this one.

I love it. As an EVE player I don't go through a chain of buttons to get to where I want to go anyways... I've long since made bookmarks to what I use most. Forums, Mail, Account Management.
The front page is gorgeous, which is good for new players and friends who you want to show EVE to. This game needs more new blood, and the new website should help.
It's better than the eveisreal website ever was though. This one is cleaner, smoother, and doesn't lag up your browser. |

It is not about hating the change. It is about pushing bling over usability. This is just as bad design as the new neocom, where simple and working functionality and features were removed to make it look more pretty and have more "cool" menus.

...and as I know that some will soonTM say "bookmark to community.eveonline.com and live with it" I have to ask question - should I bookmark to support. account management and forums as well? Like to have eve-online compatible browser configuration you would need 8 bookmarks in links bar.... right?
Front page of websites should tie the site together, not provide only some graphical presentation for possible new customer with few $ to spare. You could have some nice attractive advertisement for them to click which would forward them to page like that.

That'd be navigating between the dozens of subdomains eveonline.com now is. Neither is awesome, but basic usability testing (e.g. with any basic use case) would've easily shown the gist of it. Hell, most decent webdesigners would've been able to point it out in advance. |

What? How does the massive picture of space with Tornados flying about a planet look like a FPS?
The new landing page is good - it's a 100 times better than the old 90's style page with loads of text and one simple flash thing at the top.
Remember the new page is the first thing new players will see and should be aimed that them.
I do have one gripe that other people share it seems; EVE-Gate needs to have some kind of menu system to get back to the other websites (Community etc).

Yes, you should have multiple bookmarks if you want quick access to things.
Just right click at the top, add a folder named EVE and put EVE Bookmarks in there, and enjoy ! |

I have to say that the forums, since I've been playing, have gone from good, to less good and now to worse.
The font looks like someone was scrapping the bottom of the barrel at some of the worst freeware font sites. CCP, if someone in your ranks "created" that font you should either get their eyes examined or re-assess their creativity. I have zero creative ability in graphics design and I could make something better than that. Seriously! It's horrible.
Also, the divergence of websites, while not a bad idea, could use better execution. If you want us to have different sites, great, do it! But, take a well proofed idea from most companies. Dot Com for potential customers. Dot Net for existing customers. God knows that "eve website" link looks like a 'feature' where the least used links are placed on most websites such as disclaimers and where companies like to bury actual contact information. It doesn't look like it's the place to put the most used links. Meh, what do I know of web design, nothing. But, I do know, as a user, that your web team is making life more difficult for its users.

Aye... sounds like a good idea. It wasn't broken, they fixed it and now I have to customize it with time to gain some of the usability back that I had before. However even after customizing to the max, it still won't be as good. Another dejavu from the famous neocom.
If website which needs folder full of bookmarks is 2012 style, so be it... Thankfully customers are always wrong and CCP always thinks before doing something stupid.
(but yes - this suggestion you made seems to be only valid way to make it somewhat work atm - thanks for that)

Lol, dude its HTML 5 no flash at all since flash is dead.
Its 11 java scripts that load externally and 11 images. Because ccs is not on top of the file before other stuff loads, the css and embedded in css images loading takes therefor time.
You have to cut the ops team some slack, trolling the player base with made up downtime estimates is the only fun they get around here.-á(CCP Nullarbor) |

even overlooking the massive gaping wound to security that flash is the web page now takes something like 4x the resources to load for no real functionality improvement, and loads a bunch of non-CCP scripts in the background for amazon, facebook, twitter, google, and youtube.
seriously why the hell is amazon running a script on the main page? it went from 1 script set(CCP's eveonline.com) to EIGHT. Lol, dude its HTML 5 no flash at all since flash is dead.

I have no problem with adding fancy graphics and new player information dropdowns... But now I have to go to a different website just to get what I want. What was wrong with having a menu bar down the side of the page showing all the different pages? I'm all for making it more new-player friendly, but maybe it EXCLUSIVELY new-player oriented is a terrible move. The website wasn't what got me into EVE, and personally I'm not sure I want to fly with somebody who joined EVE because there were fancy pictures on the front page. The Sandbox section also implies that you're locked into a certain character type, or at least it doesn't specifically say otherwise. |
