Well, I spend some time searching about this topic but couldnt find nice setup. I am an minmatar pilot and currently training T2 cruisers. I am interested in efficient solo ratting in 0.0, but my corp mates are at high sector so I must travel trough gate camps and bubbles, mostly when jumping from low sec to 0.0. I have spent some time ratting angels in hound, that ship is efficient but slow for this matter. So I need proposal and preferably fit for minmatar ship that will be able to escape camps on my way to 0.0 and still be able to kill something. And if you are driving some other race ships your posts are also welcomed if you have good ship setup for this matter. And also what kind of ammunition do you use for fractions that you are ratting and do you use fraction or T2 ammo? tnx

Faction. Please, faction. Not "fraction."
Just send a scout and avoid the camps, and don't travel back and forth more than you must. Anything from T1 cruisers and AF on up can 0.0 rat. Obviously, the bigger the ship, the more DPS, the more efficiency, the lower your average lifespan. |

Sorry for that mistake, we, older nations, say Frakcija for faction so sorry if my English is mistaken!? And, no, your post didnt help. People please dont spend your time trying to see my grammar errors and please be helpful. And by solo I meant solo going in 0.0, as I did many times in hound and never got caught by campers.

What ammo to use depends entirely on what and where you're ratting.
If you're using a Torp Raven, fighting something likely to stay at range, you'll probably want to use t2 javs, while versus Angel there's no point. Using projectiles however, I reckon ammo is to expensive, and will stay with t1 which also allows me to pick my damagetypes.
As for minmatar ships to use, I'd probably be aligned for either of the t2 ships. Vaga, Muninn and Sleipnir can all do a living from ratting, not as effective as Battleships and Marauders perhaps, but better than a stealth bomber. Note however that the first reply did have a good point in saying - the bigger the more efficient and easy to lose. A jaguar or wolf is no bad idea either.
As, once again, the psoter before me mentions, if you manage to settle a ship in 0.0 and one in empire you will be far better off. As you can now use a battleship or marauder to rat in, and avoid all unneeded travel. Use jump clones or black ops to travel back and forth.
When it comes to best allround ratter, I'm aligned to say the ishtar or cerb. Quick ships, good damage output, ishtar can salvage, cerb can work from afar and void all scrams and stay safe of any suprises.

Find a system yur happy with, ideal systems are dead ends that aren't too far away from low sec.
Get a hauler with secure cans and fill up on the ammo you need.
Go dump these cans in a safe spot in the 00 system you will be ratting in.
Put a cloak on yur ship.
Go make loads of money!
* Fly into and out of 00 literally 5 mins before DT when everyone is logging off and then continue the journey immediately as the game restarts and you should be laughing.

Ideally you want a drone boat or a laser boat as they won't ever have to return for ammo. Although drone boats are slightly more temperamental in that if you disconnect you can lose an entire wave of drones before you can get back in and re scoop.
Now on that note Minmatar don't have a dedicated drone / laser boat... if you have to go for a Minmatar ship i'd be tempted by a Vagabond - the ammo depends on what you're facing.
If not i'd say something like a Pilgrim would be a nice ninja ratter if you have decent drone skills.
If you do fancy risking a BS fit a cloak + MWD, go for resistance over plates so you're as agile as possible and make sure you fill your hold to the brim with ammo.
It's a slightly open ended question though - ideally before you set out you want to have a system in mind, or at least an area within a region, roaming around unnecessarily will get you killed. For example if you know of a nice little place 5 jumps from the 0.0 entrance i'd be tempted to risk it using a BS, if it's 30 jumps into 0.0 you really want a cloaked recon / vagabond / speed ship. -------------------------------

Vagabond all the way. can easily deal with 0.0 rats and is one of the best blockade runners going (bigger than a frig)

Lot of good suggestions here. Another possibility is a Hurricane. I 0.0 rat in one quite well. Its got much better mobility than a BS, is a lot cheaper than either a BS or HAC (esp considering the insurance), you can get a decent tank on and still go over 1k easy if need be. Potential complications: you use a lot of ammo and you will want some CCC/armor rep rigs in there if you go up against major spawns like 3x1.5+ BS's.
In all, I find the Hurricane an extremely versatile and powerful ship, especially for the price.

Just started using my Hurricane for 0.0 ratting this week and I am having issues with the BS spawns. I have 1600mm plate with 56% kinetic resists plus damage control and T2 armor rep and still those cruise missiles are hitting me hard. Perhaps my problem is that I'm not closing with them quickly enough? By the way, what does CCC stand for?

Not recommended.
I tried this once. 17 jumps out from my base of operations. Took 6000 rounds of hail and enough missiles. Ran out after about 4 hours. And I only used ammo on the cruisers+. -- Support fixing the EVE UI | Suggest Jita fixes

I'm trying to do the same thing as the OP. So far I need 3 ships to make it work well:
1) A ratting BS (any Minmatar BS will do). This is used in the same solar system as your alliance's HQ is based. This way you get protection and you are near your market.
2) A PvP ship. I'm still working out if a Vagabond, Huggin, or Rapier would be best.
3) A specialised bubble camp running ship so you can buy rare/expensive items from Rens or Jita. I use a covops cloaked Cheetah for this.

Sounds like you're basically on the right track. I use
lows: MARII, 1600mm, 2 rat-specific active T2 hardeners, DC II and a Gyro II.
mids: mwd II, web, 2 cap rechargers II (put a scram in one slot if you want a chance to kill player targets of opportunity rather than just shoo them off)
high: 6 220mm II, 1 heavy assault launcher, 1 salvager (obviously optional)
rigs: 2 CCC (Capacitor Control Circuit, increases cap recharge), 1 aux nano pump (increases armor rep amount).
Now the rats I fight do em and thermal (so I use those hardeners), which plays into the natural strengths of the armor tank. Things are a bit tougher if youre taking other damage types, but I occasionally use the same setup with Angels (with explosive and kinetic hardeners obviously) just fine.
So ya make sure to use your mwd to get on top of them asap and orbit close. The reason for the cap rechargers and the CCC's is you want to be able to permarun your MAR, web, DC and hardeners once the mwd is off. As long as there are 3 1m+ rats up you may still take damage, but even with bad skills you should be able to kill at least 1 before you get to ~ 60% armor. Once there's only 2 left you should be able to outrep them (make sure you have repair systems maxed). That buffer is why you have the 1600 in. Use drones to kill the support if youre not chaining or on the BS's if you are.
With skills and experience even 3x1.6m+ spawns won't hurt much. But then, you're a lot older than me so I guess skills shouldn't be a problem.

It's not about finding the right setup, dude. This isn't what you would like to hear but imho it doesn't make sense to rat in 0.0 unless you live in 0.0. The only really dangerous part with 0.0-life is to get there since most entrypoints are camped most of the time.
So there it is. Unless you are content with a carebear empire-life, move to 0.0 and you have no more problems. Doing excusions in order to rat or mine is more trouble than it's worth.
Anyone who disagrees can consider this: Think of how much iskies a char living in 0.0 (who can rat in his own back yard) is gonna make while an empire-based char is going back and forth, losing ships to camps, messing with haulers and cans and what-not.

Not that many stations in 0.0, and almost all of them will deny docking permissions, seeing as they are held by mostly NBSI alliances.
As to the OP, get a hauler out there, anchor a few GSCs, plop in some ammo, leave some room for loot, come back in a Hurricane, rat till the GSCs are full, do a hauler run back. Oh, and consider an artillery fit if you want to use less ammo (much lower RoF and much higher base damage = less ammo used). ------------------- I nerfed my own sig To amuse you, here is my Retriever ever since its first Trinity deployment. Yes,from your posts and my experience the only right way is jump clone in deep 0.0. The biggest problem is munition, so I will need to find system where I can produce ammo myself. For the moment I have decided to go with vagabond and then train for sleipnir. As it seems amarr ships are good for deep 0.0 becouse they dont need ammo, so I will consider that option also in future. Any good setups for ratting vaga in 0.0?
And tnx for your replays? Btw, I already have nice, quiet 0.0 system 5 jumps from low sec so my first point in ratting is there in my new ship.
