ok what would be the best for eve ?my x1950 died so going back to nvidia . 2 x 6600gt or 1x 8800gt..
its on a opt 165x2, dfi nf4 expert m/b,2 gig g-skill ram ..

Last I heard SLI doesn't support dual screens. Yeah, the 8800 will be fine.

If you're in the UK then Amazon will sell you one (or at least let you place the order) for under ú120 including postage. The only drawback is a 3 to 5 week delay.

As of this moment if you have an nvidia card there is no multiple monitor support while useing SLI mode.
This is not an problem however if you can aquire either one of the following tools:
- CP[X] video processor (X being A for analog or D for digital)
- Single cable switch (annoying as you will have to switch continuesly and requires really specific switch types which can directly connect into the video card)
- Multiscreen digital processing station
- More options?
The preferred (afordable) setup is either with an switch or video processor.
The difference here is on an switch you have to use 1 screen at an time although if you have the correct one you can have higher resolutions with results going over 2 or max 3 screens (requires extensive research to get that particular type of switch though and i dont use this solution)
With an video processor you have te ability (if video card supports custom resolutions) to connect an larger ammount of screens (max 4, resolution 2048x1960).
Advantage is that you dont need to make sure the used adapter is for the correct screen (*)
However the disadvantage here is that they are mostly VGA / Analog and the ones that are available for DVI / digital output are somewhat more expensive.
If you need to push it alot further there is also the option to get an Multiscreen digital processing station (not sure on models / type numbers).
This one supports an only by graphics card limited resolution and can be expanded to upto 255 monitors (or something arround that).
Standard box has 8,16 or 32 whichever is your choice.
Connectors are expanded with just plugging in more connection boxes (pay attention to the ammount you put on it though as not all the models seem to support almost unlimited expantion depending on the screen types you use).
This solution is often what is used for those really huge billboards so their costs are kept down abit, its cheaper to make 100x 19" screens then it is to create 1 1900" screen working as an single unit  .
Depending on your choice this would also work (added benefit is that chooseing the right adapter is no longer an hassle and you can guarantee compatability for quite some time because each videocard will have atleast 1 slot).
(*) If you have set an application to use screen 1 (adapter 1) and you put it on screen 2,3 or 4 you will get an degraded performance issue.

soooooooo sweeeet...got a gainward 8800gt bliss 80+ fps everything on with 2 screens 2 acc...thx to all for the good advice :)
