I have gotten this ship and would like to do lvl 4 missions, solo. Can you give me some pointers on a passive tank? About 80% of my Gunnery and Eng skills are at lvl 4 or better. Yes, and I already know the Raven is the best ship for lvl 4 missions. But I went the way of Amarr. Thanks to all. Bellator

Passive tank means no repping? Nice...
Give me a shout if you invent something decent. ---

hm, not sure what you mean by this. Passive armour tank = plates but no repairer - certainly not advisable for missioning unless you have a logistics ship to support you.

As I understand, armor passive tank is either buffer tank (pvp) or repper 24/7 not wasting your cap (pve). ________________________________________

currently i use an abbadon for missions, but i can use the absolution would i be better off with that? would it be quicker at completing missions than my abbadon?

Probably not. Absolution is just a lot sexier.
As to a passive armor tank, that would just be plain buffer-plates plus resists. The instant you add a repper, it's active. The term to describe 24/7 active armor tanks is "perma-run". ------------------- I nerfed my own sig To amuse you, here is my Retriever ever since its first Trinity deployment. "probably"... are you guessing? you guessed wrong. An active tanked Absol (with resists up to 90/92) can breeze through lvl4's if you fit a T2 AB for maneuverability and use beams to hold optimal distance.

Just asking because I'm no expert on this...
1) Does the Absolution do more DPS than the Abaddon?
2) Does the Absolution tank better than the Abaddon?
Thx, /*Verton*/

Yeah you'll enjoy lvl 4's in the abso, the resists on absolution and damnation make for some of the best tankage in game, especially when faction fit.
the drawbacks are less damage.
allthough t2 + bs V is better for lvl 4's, but if you are command ship specced then you can breeze through it in the abso, albeit a bit slower.

Actually I have an Absolution right now, but I was considering getting an Abaddon. TBH, I'm looking for the most DPS in a Level 4 mission running ship, because I'm not going to have to much time for Eve in the near future (triplets on the way! Eve gets pwnt!).
Or should I just skip the Abaddon and got the "Easy-button", Raven?

first of all congrats m8
nah if you got abso allready just do it with that, i was just pointing out that an abaddon with damage rigs and t2 mega beams will pop those bs's very fast, bs's tend to be superior in lvl 4's if you want to blitz them, since you'll reduce the dps fast and not need to tank that much.
so, go with the abso, it'll be quite fine, if your not far off in skilling for a bs V full t2 abaddon, then go for it, otherwise, don't bother.
happy new year

Edited by: Verton on 30/12/2007 21:13:26 Thanks. I'm going to miss my hours of Eve every week.
I've been reading about the Raven and its "uber" mission running abilities and thinking about using a Raven for L4's instead of the Abaddon.
My main goal is being able to do the L4 missions quickly.

I would really suggest another char for that instead of wrecking your excellent amarr char progress with cross skilling for raven. you'll basically start from scratch with shield tanking and missiles training cruise and torps etc. bad idea.. better to max out the abaddon if you do want to spec bs V t2 for lvl 4's.

Interestingly enough... I have 3 mil SP's in missiles and almost that in Engineering (shields), so it's not really that big a step for me. I already do level 4's in a Drake... it's just painfully slow. hehe

Get Abaddon for cheap gank and tank on Amarr missions.
DO NOT GET Raven, if you got good Amarr skills stick with Amarr. You can tank fine in an Abaddon and do more dps than a crappy Raven. Seriously Abaddon > Raven.

Just make sure your agent gives you missions vs enemies that can be killed with EM/therm and Abaddon is great for lvl 4's. I mostly just refuse the ocasional Guristas/Angel mission from my agent.

I'm actually an old timer... just looking for something new. :) I've avoided the Raven an Drake because all I ever did was PvP in 0.0. Now that I've had to retire from 0.0 I'm giving missions a try.
I just installed EFT, so now I'm comparing the DPS and "tankability" of several ships. I have two accounts, and I usually bring the Absolution and the Raven (alt char) in simultaneously, but I'll soon be down to one account at a time.

Abso
6 Heavy Beams, 1 Drone link thing
AB, 2 Cap Recharger
MAR 3-4 Passive Corpums 2-3 TS Heat sink
Abaddon
8 Mega Pulse
2-3 Cap Rechargers 1-2 Tracking comps
LAR 2-3 Hardners 2-3 Heatsinks Sometimes and Eanm or DCU 3 x ccc Abaddon does more DPS but doesnt hit frigs or cruisers so well, its better for BS heavy missions. Abso rocks for everything else and tanks way better.

What rigs did you put on the Absolution and the Abaddon? I currently have a CCC and an ANP on my Absolution.
The only mod I made to the above setup is that I have a Tracking Computer in a mid slot with a script loaded. (Possibly not needed?) Most of my gunnery skills related to hitting targets are at level 5. In the lows, I had Cap Recharger II's installed instead of Heat Sinks... but I have corrected that.

I use a damage rig and a CCC on the Abso and 3 x CCC on the Abaddon
Aux pump and a CCC would also work on the Abso if you want more tank, Abaddon HAS to have 3 x CCC imo.

TBH i've compared abso and abba setups....and the abba just wins every time...at everything. Sure, the abso might hit the smaller targets easier, but unless you have T2 med beams and want to use aurora, the abso just can't even get close to competing to a mega beam abaddon. Even at point blank range, the abaddon does more damage than the abso...AND tanks better... ------ PVP in EvE is consentual, you agree to it when you login.
