Many times I have been mining with my drones to see someone warp in to a belt and warp out again. I have seen comments in local chat that there are pirates in the belt where I am mining.
How about making the crosses for drones a different color so that players are not mistaking them for pirates?

Even better give drones their own HUD icon so the difference is as distinct as that between players and NPCs at the moment.
Either way this is needed, confusion reigns in battles with lots of drones and pirates atm..

Good point! A simple 'x' icon would be enough to make drones' icons differ from NPC ships' crosses.

I think if they made the drones' crosses green then it would help out a lot. Gand members are green and that counts as a friendly unit, and because the icon shapes are different for player ships and drones, there wouldn't be any confusion either :)

Remember one thing - not all drones are friendly, there are combat drones too, and I certainly don't want all drones be green anyway, as I want to see which drones belong to my friends or corp members, and which don't.

I'd like to see green for "friendly" things say corp/gang members or anyone you have chosen to set a status >0.0 on.
Yellow on any corp/person you have set to <0.0
Red at say <-3.0
Something to jump out before the threat disply since the radar is about useless.

The idea was to be able to tell drones from pirates, any color will do and this would not say they are friendly but would help you to see they are drones and not pirates

Drones that belong to corp members already have that little green bar next to them. I agree they need their own symbol, I use drones heavily, and I feel bad when a new player warps in, says "Oooo, a Hammerhead pirate" attacks it, and nearly gets podded by to police.
... That's when I reach for my revolver ... |
