Could someone link or put up a list of skillbooks I ought to buy in order to do well in Lvl 2 and 3 missions?
I don't want to buy the ship only to find I can barely fit it, and risk losing it.
Right now I'm using a minmatar rifter, and, though I've heard minmatar don't do very well in missions compared to the other races, I enjoy the race and don't mind if its an extra challenge.

Edit-Argh I cant get the links to work. Edit2-If you havent already looked through the sticky in this forum titled Ultimate New Player Guide Collection I would suggest you do so as there is a lot of good information in there. Im reading through it now and it is helping me out on many of my noob questions.

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 30/12/2007 04:07:12 ALL the basic learning skills. There's six, because "learning" is also a skill.
No matter what you do in Eve you need to have these skills. Train them all to 3, and the ones you really need to 4 as soon as they don't interfere with your other skill training. If you don't train a lot of social skills then leave the empathy booster alone for the time being, since it's the least useful stat for fighters.
edit: I should have read the OP's entire post There is no correct answer to it, at least, other than that you will need medium weapon skills or heavy missile skills, and cruiser/battlecruiser ship skills.

goto Evemon and play around with the program a bit. This is a program that will help you schedule skills and it has a complete skill list. It won't change them for you but it does allow you to see when a skill will complete and helps in scheduling when you aren't at your pc to change skills.
Here are some to get you started no matter what race you are:
Electronics: Electronics Electronics Upgrades Targeting
Engineering: Energy Management Energy Systems Operation Engineering Shield (there are 4-5 that you may want if you shield tank)
Gunnery: (if you use missiles ignore these) Gunnery Small Hybrid Turret/Blaster Medium Hybrid Turret/Blaster Motion Prediction Rapid Firing Sharpshooter Surgical Strike Trajectory Analysis
Mechanic: (if you shield tank then you can ignore most of these) Hull Upgrades Mechanic Repair Systems
Missile: (I'm not familiar with missiles but use judgment)
Navigation: Afterburner Evasive Maneuvering Navigation Warp Drive Operation
That should give you a good starting list of support skills

download eve-mon
add all of the above into the skill plan
go to the skill plana nd click on the bottom left suggestions.
it will add in learning skills that decrease the overall time.
plus notify you when they are done!
you won't need your username and password it uses the eve-online API project :)
hope that helps!
