Uhhh... no.
Short range, no. Use faction ammo for shortrange.
Long range, yes. Long range T2 ammo is amazing.
You people are crazy.
Barrage and Scorch are freaking godsends. The mother and father of all ammos.
Seriously, Barrage and Scorch are the best ammos in the game. Barrage and Scorch are both short range ammos.
So it really boils down to this:
Close Range Damage Ammo: Use Faction (Void, Hail, Conflag) Close Range Range Ammo: BEST AMMO IN THE GAME, BAR NONE (excepting hybrids) (Null, Barrage, Scorch) Long Range Damage Ammo: Use Faction (Quake, Javelin, Gleam) Long Range Range Ammo: Only use it if you plan on shooting something sitting still and a long long way away. (Spike, Tremor, Aurora)
Precision Missiles: They're ok but they're too slow Fury Missiles: Use Faction Javelin: Pretty nice! Rage Missiles: Use Faction
There might be errors on the Amarr ammos, but Missiles/Hybrid/Projectiles I'm really quite familiar with.

Scorch has massive penelties on already poor tracking Amarr turrets. However, scorch is only useful for mid range pvp, and that hardly ever happens. Unless you see someone uncloak 50km off a gate, you are better with close range fitted.
Aurora is required for sniper ships, because t1 Amarr crystals have hedious long range capability. E.G caldari gunships can use t1 ammo to snipe with, but not Amarr as they need 3 tracking enhancers with Aurora + Max skills to have 160km+ optimal. Amarr have very little falloff to speak of, so they cannot rely on that.

Barrage and Scorch are both the long range t2 ammo variants for close combat guns. Hail and Conflagration are the short range ones. ------ Director, No Quarter "There is no problem that cannot be solved by the judicious application of violence." |

Even with high transversal, Scorch will outdamage all other Amarr ammos after a certain range (that's well inside the optimal). And mid-range combat does happen...
Ex: Zealot, scorch outdamages all other ammo types after 18km (even with high transversal).

Yes. The point is clear: nobody can post anything about anything without amarr players taking the opportunity to whine about how hard it is to be amarr.

When Capital Turrets have almost 25% better tracking than Megapulse + Conflag - you know you are playing hard mode.

yeah sorry to tell ya, but barrage is the t2 long range ammo, but when it comes to void, void is the the best thing to use when you have cruiser sized guns and your going against another cruiser or bc Sig removed, lacks Eve-related content. And it was ten times too big :p If you would like further details please mail [email protected] - Cortes

So... do you know how to read? What do you call Tremor, by chance? Short range ammo? Incidentally, there's virtually no reason to ever use Void with faction antimatter around.

Capital turrets have nothing to do with this thread.
What does have to do with the thread is that long range autocannon/blaster/pulse ammo is pretty neat and that long range arty/rail/beam ammo is nescessary to get the you need. The other ammos are highly situational at best and you're usually better off with faction.

I would say T2 ammo is very useful.
As for the tracking, I'm not seeing the relevance. A gun that has an optimal of 12km has better tracking then one with twice that if you chose to use a specific ammo? Hardly a surprise. Under that logic I declare Tremor useless, as Tachs have better optimal AND tracking then 1400's.
