Crowd Control Production (CCP) - what does this mean ? We are the Crowd, Controlled by the Production of that company ?
The need to Control a Crowd by offering entertainment is not new. Julius Ceasar knew this, he expanded the Circus Maximus, to keep the people of Rome entertained. Give the large Crowd "bread and games", to keep them satisfied, so that they don't start a riot and remove the few mighty ones from their governing positions.
In our modern society the games are way diffrent, not so bloody. Sportgames were made for the Crowd Control purpose, and in the last decade computer games kept a lot of people from thinking about society, what are the miserys of our days etc and start riots like in the 68s. Let them think about fictional things instead of real ones, keep the Crowd entertained and satisfied.
The modern arena is in cyberspace, the controlled ones interact with each other without blood being shed. So that suspicious Joe is grinding for level 70 or mining for a new dreadnought instead of printing subversive flyers - a great idea that Crowd Control, isn't it ? And CCP doesn't even hide their intentions but put them in the company's name. Maybe they are part of a global mind control conspiracy ? Or maybe they are not aware of serving the mighty ones of our days by keeping 20-30k people controlled 24/7, but were influenced through telepathic suggestion to start this thing ? Either way, it's a nice thing, keep the Crowd Controlled, give them "bread and games" and your power is not questioned.

Sorry OP but the mass media and shopping malls beat CCP to the punch decades ago. Though I would be interested to know what kind of Sansha implants they give to the Fan Fest attendees.

Yes, the shopping malls are the "bread" side, mass media play a huge aswell, you are absolutely right, but what we have here is something additional (that i didn't mention above). People have evil desires (not all), they like to kill, rob, thief, they want to see blood, they have a dark side. Of course this is supressed by our law and law enforcement, but it is there and sometimes this evil made it out of the dark and hidden part and caused a lot of harm, crime, wars and other bad things. Anger, greed and jealosy for example are some of those evil sides of humans psyche that are dangerous for the mighty ones. It's hard to Control a Crowd (and the dark side of the psyche of it's individuals) for a long time only with military/police power.
So what do we get here: you don't have to supress those things, you can live them. You'd love to shoot someone, go play counterstike, you don't have to be a mafioso, you can satisfy your criminal energy by playing mafia online or any other game that allow this things, such as Eve. You want power over others ? Play a key role in a war ? Be ha hero ? Get rich ? Pirate and scam, grief others ? Eve can offer you all this things. Oveur said CCP wants to allow evil in game (he said that at the fan fest before the last one), people shall get a possibility to live the evil side in them instead of supressing it. Guess why.

Wow... Having trouble figuring out if this is a joke or not... But the overall tone seems to be serious... Did someone forget to take their meds?

OK.
Maybe I should go back to reading the 8th Haruhi novel. Its much better than your posting.
It's my bad Shikari, I have been slacking on my Lithium and Barium production. Some of my patients have somehow managed to escape confinement and are posting on eve-o.
My apologies, I have fresh medication ready, and have several teams already dispatched with large nets.
Normal situation should be resumed shortly

So you think CCP are grooming us to fight in some upcoming war when the aliens invade around 2012ish much like the function the Starfighter game did in the movie of the same name?

Edited by: 7shining7one7 on 30/12/2007 10:44:40 the op's ideas aside, it would be interesting to know _why_ exactly ccp is called crowd control productions?
*updated* atreides he's doing no harm whatsoever, and he's actually making some good points eventhough he goes off on a tangent, if anyone should be locked up of you and him it's frankly you. Why? cause you are the one wanting to lock someone up and pump them full of meds.
