However, there are occations when it might be useful - for example when speaking with corpmates on icq/irc/whatever or browsing the forum while travelling, so a toggle option would be nice. Not being able to turn it off was torture though, so keeping it off is better than being forced to hear it.
* advancedDevice=1 in prefs.ini is bugged. Bug report can be expected soon (tonight). That's probably why EVE froze for me when pressing esc previously.
* Bugs that appear right after patch are annoying, especially the constantly reappearing bugs. I always have to set a long time skill and wait for the patch after the patch before I dare to play seriously again.
* There should have been warnings for the sec rate increase and skill changes at least a week in advance. That way, pirates would have a chance to move their stuff from systems that were about to turn into 0.5, and miners and fighters could have planned their skill training better.
* Include the patchnotes in the patch for easy reading when patching. Display the patchnotes when the patch has been applied. All changes (except maybe minor bugfixes that won't be noticed) should be made available upon connecting to the server. There should also be patching info if only the server and not the client is patched. All changes that affect gameplay in imortant ways should be available for reading upon connecting to the server at least a week before patching.
I suggest that it looks like this (or similar) :
Patchnotes ==========
Coming Changes -------------- (list of coming changes and when they are planned to arrive)
Recent Changes -------------- (list of changes going back at least a month, with day and/or patch version listed)
This list should be downloaded upon every connection to the server, and if anything has changed since last logon it should be displayed to the user.
* To me, the patch didn't seem tested enough - it had only been available a day or two for testing on chaos, and it was initially planned to be released very shortly after the skill loss on chaos was fixed - a time when few ppl had been connected to chaos to test the patch.
(edit : fixed typo)
