Home
Home is an important word for all of us, but for Caldari most of all. For generations we've fought to maintain our communities and culture. Community is everything, and leaving it is hard for any of us, under even the best circumstances.
Over the last year, Omerta Syndicate has wandered far from the Caldari State, gathering resources, allies, and experience. We turned exile into profit, and weÆve continued to remind our enemies that we could hurt them despite their efforts to exclude our influence.
Today we emerge from that exile. Omerta Syndicate has returned to its headquarters at Airkio. Today, Omerta Syndicate has returned home and today, Omerta Syndicate opens new business opportunities to those around us.
Those willing to work with us should contact diplomats Kyoko Sakoda or Aria Jenneth. Those who stand in our way, brace yourselves.
Roll on 110, and whatever you bring.

Does that mean you are abandoning piracy ? If so, I hope the CBT will engage a court procedure against you to make sure justice is served for all this time creating misery and death wherever your ships flew.

While we at HSWD doesn't hold any kind of commercial connections with Omerta Syndicate yet, it's common sense that OS represents some of the best Caldari traits.
We hope you find profit, growth and success on your new goals.

Piracy?
Omerta Syndicate doesn't engage in piracy, and, in fact, members who are former pirates are asked to work their sec ratings into CONCORD's good graces as one of their first assignments with the Syndicate. Criminal records reduce mobility. Reduced mobility limits striking potential. Limited striking potential reduces our usefulness to our associates, whomever those may happen to be.
Now, as for CONCORD-sanctioned, legal war declarations on behalf of our associates or likewise perfectly legal nullsec raids against hostile targets in deep space, those are simply part of our business model, and have been for ages.
Considering some of the comments to appear from your pilots in these forums, it seems perfectly possible that we may get to do business again soon. I do hope so.
Kehmor:
There's really no need to be snide, pilot. Acheron Federation very kindly volunteered to pick up the cost in Cyrene's stead, and we opted to accept their offer. They donated somewhat over a Thanatos' cost in ships to oblivion. We donated a few ourselves, but not enough to make the difference in value. We consider our point successfully made.
However, as we did not actually obtain the Thanatos, we reserve the right to resume our efforts to obtain it at any time. PiF's comments above underline rather well the sort of commentary likely to bring that result, along with an earlier remark from a different Acheron member about "Omerta Syndicate mischief" and hopes for an opportunity to turn the tables on us.
Personally, I'm looking forward to a renewed effort.

So, I assume that you couldn't talk your way into a "deal" with the forces at work in Curse, then? So much for the glorious prospects of Jovian technology and a partnership with the Angel Cartel. How sad, I was eager for the Syndicate to be far, far away. At least then I wouldn't have to talk to Madame Kyoko Sakoda in Octanneve for hours on end to entertain her.
*leans forward to the holocam*
However, a small piece of me looks forward to seeing you again. By the time we do, I suspect you will find yourself on the lesser side of the scales of fate.

I am very pleased to learn that the Omerta Syndicate is taking offence of being called a pirate corporation. For this calling, I have based myself on your actions, Ms Jenneth. Is it not the Omerta Syndicate who tried to ransom the Cyrene Initiative like any vulgar pirate corporation would do ? And this "extorsion" as you called it yourself, was it not in the beneficial of the Serpentis, the mortal piracy cancer of the Federation ?
But yet, you keep denying being pirates and calling for Concord positive standings. So, in the light of the new year rising, I have decided to look into the NeXus network archives for previous Omerta Syndicate engagements. And after a few days, my intelligence analysts confirmed that it has not been proved that any Omerta vessel downed a civilian or neutral ship in low security space.
So as I see it, you're on a thin line, pilots of the Omerata Syndicate. You keep having to recall everyone that you are not pirates, even on your own GalNet website, even though you appear to ransom, sack, extort and tie with known pirate organisations. But maybe you've changed. Maybe that now your exile is over, your actions could talk for you and your standings ? NeXus network will be monitoring, as always.

One is not defined by those they do business with. I'm sure you've sold items on the open market with no thought to who might use them for what cause, PiF, so your blind accusations are amusing at best.
Omerta Syndicate remains Omerta Syndicate, and always will. Our goal is the prosperity of the Caldari as a people, which I believe is being poorly represented under the likes of Ishukone Corporation. While we do not hold any particular quarrel with most of the State's Megacorporations, they're all members of the CEP that allows Ishukone to continue as they are.
Those of you who have a quarrel with our approach to business, tough luck, this is how we do things and last I checked we hadn't been accused of breaching any CONCORD sanctions, as reflected by the general security standing of our members.

You probably shouldn't be quite so pleased, since we don't really take offense. Calling us "pirates" simply does violence to the word, in the sense that it gets stuck on some ancient torture device and stretched.
I don't mean to suggest that this is your fault alone; someone recently pointed me to the nullsec alliances as examples of pirates. If this pattern continues, we'll soon find the word applying to anyone and everyone who's ever targeted another capsuleer's ship, and Verone and Naphtalia will have to go looking for another word to call their profession by.
In order that language should continue to be useful for communicating specific traits and concepts, I'd ask that you not help stretch the word "pirate" into meaninglessness. I do appreciate your efforts in determining, if only after the fact, that we don't fit the meaning of the word as it's commonly used.
As for exactly what word is best used to describe us ... well, as I can't go into detail regarding our operations or associates, I suppose you'll have to work that out from observation.

Ms Li,
"One is not defined by those they do business with" ? Excuse me, but they are. In the Federation, where law have a meaning, there is a whole jurisprudency, globally called as "criminal association" that finds guilty any knowning partner of illegal activities.
Now, I have probably sold cannons on the market that have been used to extort or to perform pirate activities, that is very likely. However, if you do not see the difference between that and associating to deliver a carrier to the Serpentis, well, then it's not surprising you're having some difficulties to understand why one can call you "pirates".
And on a general note, if the Serpentis would go through the Yulai convention to declare a war against a peaceful corporation, Concord could do nothing against. And it wouldn't be the first time that pirates would use the Yulai convention in order to ransom industrials corporations without having Concord on their backs. Fortunately, the Federation have its own legal system and we know who makes money out of theft and who's earning it out of work.
Now, Ms Li, Ms Jenneth, we could go on like this for ages but that's becoming a legal discussion for Marie d'Artois. So I will remember that you're not considering yourselves pirates, wich is new to me, and I will monitor what are your new accointances, now that you've returned. I'll check what will do the CBT and the CEP and other caldari corporations. Should they wipe you clean for all your criminal past, then I'll see at least what it takes to be considered a pirate for a Caldari.

Pilot, you may wish to review the body of law, not as it applies to Federal or State citizens, but as it applies to capsuleers. Or rather, how it doesn't.
The Federation has the authority to declare us persona non grata, as does the State; I'm very nearly such with the Federation. Happily, I have a few contacts within your government, enough to make the difference. Beyond this, well, let's just say that the list of acts we can be sanctioned for is short indeed.
We as capsuleers are largely left to see to our own affairs; governments grant their favor, or not. Yours doesn't shoot at us; that is sufficient for our purposes.
As for your monitoring of our activities, we look forward to seeing what your reactions are. The caution displayed by certain other members of your corporation, as embodied in the above disclaimer, seems to suggest that the rest of Acheron is not eager to find new cause for quarrel between us.
We shall see.
Mr. Hund:
You've asked a fair question, so I'll break briefly with my personal policy regarding your corporation and answer.
Omerta has been in a number of places, starting with Curse at about the time I joined a year ago, then moving to Delve, and, ultimately, Fountain, where we held an outpost for some months.
Station management, however, seems to suit us poorly, so we ultimately returned to Empire space-- first to further our associates' interests against Cyrene and Acheron in Gallente space, then, finally, returning home to Airkio.
I'm quite looking forward to seeing where we go from here.
Evanda:
Omerta isn't exactly a bastion of individualism so much as a group that tends to attract peculiar individuals. Our corporate culture has long been, and remains, very Caldari, which is to say, collectivist and hierarchical. On the other hand, it's also safe to say that we won't be turning into an echo of CAIN any time in the near future.
As a corporation, you may rest assured that we dictate our own policies.
