I've been playing for just under a month now and I've got a couple questions about maximizing mission running. I'm currently running lvl 2 missions in a fairly well equipped rupture. I've got enough standing with a couple different npc corps to access agents all the way up to lvl 4 but obviously lack the skills and ships to move on at this point. Until then I'm working for a 19 quality lvl 2 agent. I'm finishing out the learning 4/3 stack before I can start fleshing out the general skills. Hopefully once I build up some SP I can start looking for a player corp.
My average night usually consists of running missions nonstop and cleaning up the wrecks and loot with a thrasher setup for salvaging. I've been keeping named modules or anything that I currently use. The rest either gets sold or reprocessed if the buy orders are really low.
So my questions are is this the best way to handle loot? Should I not be selling or reprocessing without certain skills? Should I be selling the ore or keeping it? Is running all my missions for the same couple corps a good or bad thing? I just want to make the most of my game time while I try to get some SP under my belt.
Thanks

I'm about the same age, also doing level twos in a Rupture. What I've been doing to maximise my returns is, instead of just selling loot and salvage to the buy orders, I check the sell orders first, often there's a big difference, in which case I put up a sell order instead. I trained up some basic trade skills, enough to handle almost 40 orders, which only took me about a day. For example, today I sold a module for $3,400,000, for which the buy order was around 1 million. Worth waiting a couple of days for the sale. With modules that are worth less, I wait until I've got a stack of them, then put up a sell order, making sure mine is the cheapest. I've been making significantly more doing this.

If you can afford to keep hold of the "useless" loot, do so. The skills for reprocessing modules is "scrapmetal processing" and it's a long training time.
The other advantage of this is that you never know when you might need something, it might just be in your hanger. If you're thinking of joining a player corp, they may have an experienced reprocessing officer to minimise your waste.
Buy some station containers to sort your loot out - they're cheap and very useful.
If you're short on cash or need the minerals, then reprocess whatever you need to.
Cheers Falka

Thanks for the replies. Anyone have comments about the agents question? Should I continue to focus on the same couple of corps or is it better to try to move around and work up standing and factions for everything?

Scrapmetal reprocessing is worth training only if you live in 0.0 and don't have acess to good reprocessing stations.
The prerequisite is metallurgy 5, that usually you train only for research on blueprints.
With refining 5 and Refinery efficiency 3 or 4 you get very good results.
