Keep getting those from my agents, never done any gas harvesting but have a skill trained "just in case"... Any advice is mucho appreciated.
The things I like (the sound of) about those:
- 6,555 LPs
- 2.3M ISK
The things I'm not sure about:
- what ship do I need - seems the clouds can do random damage to you ship - a BS?
- how many Gas Harvesters does one need to fit? A plain Gas Harvester (without boni of any sort seem to yield 10m3 every 30 seconds, mission calls for 4,250m3 collected, which, assuming a Rokh or equivalent is used, would take... errr... 8x10m3x2... 160m3/min... err... 27 minutes of mining... Is that about right or am I missing something obvious here?
- why aren't there Gas Harvester BPOs on the market? It's not even a T2 module, cost of materials is ~ 1 Mil and the retail is at 15-20Mil??? Where do they come from in the first place?

You can only use max 5 harvesters, not 8.

Thank you - I think it's one of those things that looked very "good" on paper. It's doable in ~ an hour, subject to you spending ~ 75-100 mil on Gas Harvesters which are useless in Empire, and training a skill to use them for ~5-6 days... CCP - surely you could have done better than this?

I did a level 4 gas mining mission in high-sec (0.6) space, here is what I found out. (I can't answer the question about the origins of the harvester blueprints.)
1. I didn't take any damage from the gas.
2. I used a battleship, but any ship with a bunch of turret slots and some cargo space would work. In retrospect, using my Exequror would have been a great idea.
3. I only had two harvesters equipped and it took forever. Got the bonus, though, and the gas was coming in slow enough for me to wander away from the computer for awhile.
4. I jet-canned the gas, then got a hauler to actually take the gas back to the station.
5. Only one group of npcs spawned.
6. Like a mining mission, there wasn't any extra mission gas, so don't loose it!
7. Unlike a mining mission (where you have other 'roids that can be mined), there wasn't any other "bonus" (normal) gas to harvest.

A couple of questions...
Which corp did you get this mission(s) from?
Is the "Myko" type gas?
For the high sec booster mfg?
thx in advance...
According to Oveur, existing LSAA's already anchored will stay there. kieron Director of Community Relations,

Mission gas, like mission ore, is a non-usable variant ore. From what I understand it is called Cytoserocin, but it is definitely not usable in booster manufacturing.
Mykoserocin gas clouds are only found in certain LOW-SEC areas, never in high sec.

Correct. I don't remember the gas name, but it was a mission variant and not useful for players. For what it's worth, it was a Creodron mfg. agent that offered the mission.

Edited by: Garrick Konquero on 03/01/2008 14:31:17 In my case it was two or three frigates, consistent with what would have spawned in that systems belt.

Did you all by the skill and the harvesters off the market or go find them through exploration or whatever. I ask because the price seems pretty high in minmatar space. I would have to do several mission to make it worth it and I have only recieved on gas mining mission.
Thanks
Jet
Dynamic Endeavors is now Recuiting.!!
Contact me in game for deatails about the corp. Mostly a PvE corp, with Jump clones avaiale in Empire and 0.0. |

I purchased the skill and harvester off the market. I purchased them so I could harvest gas from exploration sites. At their current prices, purchasing the skill and equipment to perform only gas harvesting missions probably isn't a good idea. Actually, I'm not sure buying them for harvesting gas from exploration sites is a good idea, but what the hell.

The harvesters and the skill books to use them can be picked up in any of the pirate NPC stations in 0.0 for I believe 2.1 mill per harvester and 24 mill for the skill book. As far as harvesting I use a ferox for gas harvesting in 0.0 with 4 harvesters equipped. Jet can it and get a hauler to pick it up. This mission should take about 1 hour.

What types of exploration sites provide gas for harvesting? I have probably crossed it many times without noticing
