This is for my alt :)
I'm thinking in terms of survivability and cost here. Just looking to be a useful member of the gang rather than outstanding.
My thinking is that a Sleipnir is more survivable because it's a harder nut to ***** and you'll probably not be primaried. As long as the gang holds out you're probably safe and packing a helluva punch. I'd assume you're likely to be scrammed fairly early (kept for later, basically) and if the gang fails it will be a costly loss.
Hurricane is highly likely to be primaried but if you lose it the hurt is lower. As long as the gang is working well you should be okay but it's more risky.
Is that a fair assessment? I can afford to replace the occasional Sleipnir loss but more than one a month would be unnacceptable. I'm not after hardcore PvP - just want to help the other guys out when I'm around if they are fighting.

id say the other way around... command ships are usually the first to be shot at if there arent alot of BS around :)
cane would be a better choise tbh. and you can make a cane last along time :) (plate fit) ---------------------------------- Seems that there's a new game that seems to be very popular whit whiners these days. Its called EFT Online.

Well, a plated AutoCane is not exactly easy to kill, you can get a nice 4 slots tank and 2 dmg mods if you don't nano your ship.
and don't underestimate the fact that some hostiles might prefer to go after a Command Ship rather than a Tier2 Battlecruiser simply because it hurts the enemy more.
Also depends on your enemies of the moment, since a sleip is quite cap dependant, which means heavy neuts will hurt you badly!

Okay then I'll give the 'cane a try. Should be able to fit it for 40mil with a bit of luck. It's also nice that as an ex-Amarr pilot my alt will find a use for his armour tank skills. As I remember they are very good.

Go with a hurricane, because I primary nuke Tech 2 ships before T1 unless their is a Battleship. But once all the battleships are down I nuke the tech 2's.
Besides you can get Hurricane's cheaper and if you wanted to you could buy the BPO and make them yourself saving you ISK in the long run.* -

If you're worried about isk at all then then use the Hurricane. The difference between them is not worth the cost.
Saying that. I'm flying a Sleipner.
