Yep. linux-gamers.net has a good amount of info, and ubuntu forums also have a howto on getting it working. It DOES have some issues.....and there is also a script to allow it to run in the background and still receive the 'press to talk' key.

I tired getting ventrilo to work once.. it's not worth it in my opinion. Try using Teamspeak.. that has a native client but even teamspeak has it's problems (OSS dependent and causes some conflicting issues when another app tries to use the mixer - those can be fixed tho).
The only thing that truly works (on paper, haven't tested it yet) is EKIGA. It's the only VoIP client for linux that has ALSA support (among other things)...

teamspeak works good and so does skype (in addition to ekiga mentioned). The teamspeak server is really easy to set up, too.

the biggest problem with ts is the 11khz sample rate which reduces sound quality a lot
there is also mumble which is free (server+client)
----------- - server side event filtering for turret and effects - module grouping for less server calls - fix grid loading isses

Agree. Teamspeak voice quality is terrible making it far less than ideal for most users imo. Ventrilo is super easy to setup and works flawless for me, but you do have to keep it the active window unless that script works, which it does not for me. Currently, I use Ventrilo on a seperate machine so I dont have to worry too much about that, but if your trying to do both on the same machine (voip + eve), then TS may be your best option, unless EVE Voice works for you 2 way, which it sort of does for me using the Official Linux Client. I receive voice through it with outstanding quality, but transmitting seems problematic.
