I usually play with the sound off because it generates to much lag especially now with premium graphics content. But what I do like is to listen to eve music and possible test out Eve Voice but the only way to have either of these on is to have sound effects on as well. So my idea that I have been trying to get is to have seperate audio channels that can be turned off when you want.
Eve voice channel Eve music channel Eve Sound effects channel UI sound Level channel Master Volume Channel
Each of these channels should have a on/off button to reduce lag but also have the ability to have certain channels on with sound effects off. I mean, how do you command a fleet with eve voice during a battle when you hear all these explosions and turret fire?
Or to put it into more simplier terms, just add a option to turn off sound effects but have music and/or eve voice on.

Welcome back tank!
But I'd disagree with the sound causing lag these days. They did use another engine and I've been playing with sound for since and its pretty lag free. PVP with the premium content + sound has been equal in performance to premium - sound.

Right, I didn't notice performance between sound on and sound off since they updated sound engine...
Maybe on systems with lower memory and older CPUs it can have an impact... But it sounds really ok to play with sound actually. -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast !

Well, I mean, its possible they increased the performance of the sound engine. TBH, I should have no problem considering the fact that I have a pretty powerfull system that I built. E6600 Core 2 Duo, 4 gig (800mhz) RAM, Geforce 8800 GTS.
Moreover what im trying to get here is that I personally find the sound effects to be mostly annoying and rather not here them especially turret fire. Its to the point where I rather here what my wingman has to say on evevoice rather then listening to turret fire and trying to comprehend what my friend is trying to say over eve-voice. See where im going? I also like to listen to eve music from time to time, but without sound effects from ingame.

I support this thread. The sound effects in EVE are blaring, and certainly makes it impossible to play with sound and headphones. I like having the music, voice and UI sounds, but the sound effects just make it too much.

Lag aside I just don't want to listen to that goddamn fjkning warp noise. I've played 2 1/2 years with the sound off. That is some epic fail for the sake of 1 noise
