Just built myself a Megathon for the hell of it, and I had an idea...

I've recently gotten into armor tanking skills after training 4 million skillpoints in gunnery. I built myself a Megathron for some variety of gameplay, to test it for mission running with the possibility of using it in its classic pvp gank role at some stage. I was working out how best to armortank it when I hit on an idea! A stupid idea, but worth a try anyway. For Angels missions, you could shieldtank it. No, seriously! All you need is an XL shieldbooster, an explosive shield hardener, kinetic shield hardener and a cap recharger/tracking computer/shieldboost amp. Put a damage control in the lows because you have plenty of them, two tracking enhancers and two magstabs. Then round out the fitting with two power diagnostics. It could work! I'd better insure my ship just incase. Edit: Oops, meant to post this in ships and modules discussion. -- Eve needs a dose of Top Gun without the sweaty shower scenes.

But the shield tank gives it 85% exp and 80% kinetic resist with an XL shield booster, it lets you fill the lows with damage mods. You don't need to run the shield booster forever either. It makes more sense than some might think - Angel missions require high explosive resists, and armortanking takes at least as many slots as shieldtanking, usually more for dual reps when you solo Angels extravaganza, etc. And you don't really need med slots for tackling in a mission. So fill the lows with magstabs and tracking enhancers, get 700dps with 425 railguns(according to EFT) and a tracking speed of 0.025! And if they can armortank a Raven, I'm gonna damn well try shieldtanking a 'thron just once. -- Eve needs a dose of Top Gun without the sweaty shower scenes.

Abrazzar	Posted - 2008.01.05 05:10:00 - [16] This reminds me of my Myrmidon setup in Amarr space with a shield tank, lasers and weapon upgrades. Great dps, good enough to tank for lvl 3 missions and damage type variety of drones. It works, I didn't belief it at first but it does.

Not the same number of slots but I think it could work out, especailly if you do not run your Booster constantly. That, and you can't use shield mantenance bots on YOURSELF.... They guy is doing a fake EFT setup. That could not survive AE bonus room, I have ran the full aggro dps stats. AE bonus rom is a few thousand dps. Not all of it is explosive. Expanded cargo II? I havent a clue why he used that Refresh to see next Real Life CCP sig(16 total)
