I was one of those who just advanced the first character. Now I have played now for 3 weeks and have aquired 52 skills, with aprox. 500k skill points. But I realise that now that some of the attributes are more important than others. Im having dillema if i should start a new character, here are my attributes (with learned skill lvl in brackets): intelligence 4(+3)=7, charisma 6, perception 10(+3)=13, willpower 9(+3)=12, memory 10(+3)=13.
what u think ok?

I would have prefered a higher intelligence, but otherwise it seems like a pretty well balanced character, atleast not one I'd cancel to start over.

Nope, you suck...
Seriously though. You should have some idea of what you want to do i general when playing EVE and adjust your attribs accordingly. Since different skills benefit from different attributes, you should make sure that the attributes are geared towards making you train those skills you need more efficiently. If you for example would like to be a good fighter, you should make sure you have a high perception value, since gunneryskills have perception as a primary attribute.
You should read this excellent guide about how all those things work.
Good luck! _________________________________________________________

Are mine good?
Intelligence: (11+5+4)*1.1 = 22.00 Perception: (4+5+4)*1.1 = 14.30 Charisma: (6+5+3)*1.1 = 15.40 Willpower: (7+5+3)*1.1 = 16.50 Memory: (11+5+4)*1.1 = 22.00

(I made this character with NO knowledge of the game...just wish I had a couple less points in charisma and a couple more in perception.)

I started this char june 2003, played if for like a month, quit, and came back a little over a week ago. I have all learning to 4 and about 600k skill points and I am not starting over but anyway... These are what they are at level 4 each. Int 14 Perception 9 Charisma 12 WP 16 Memory 10
So I guess I should get a perception and Memory implant?

Basicly if you want a fighter go for per/int all the way. Keep charisma at minimum and mem/will at minimum of 6 I think. If you want all-round character go for amarr ammar and wealthy commoner with +3 per and +2 int. People that got the patience to wait for the trade skills and more effective charisma based skills...well I donŠt really know what to do about you guys. Research/builder could go Gallente intaki reborn and int/mem all the way.

I went for a balanced mix of atributes.
Intelligence - (8+5+4)*1.1=18.7 Charisma - (8+5+3)*1.1=17.6 Willpower - (7+5+3)*1.1=16.5 Memory - (8+5+3)*1.1=17.6 Perception - (8+5+4)*1.1=18.7 Nothing to see here .... move along. |

Learning skill gives 2% increase per level. So level 5 would be 10 percent increase. That's 110%, or as a decimal 1.1

Edited by: Mad Ahab on 26/03/2004 21:46:14 I wanted to have a charecter that focused on combat after picking my schools ended up with
Perc 11+4*1.1 16 Int 7+5*1.1 13 Will 11+4*1.1 16 Chr 7+1*1.1 8 Mem 5+5*1.1 11
The 5 starting mem was hurtful in some ways, but I fly through most other combat oriented skills so I am happy with my toon. If I had to do it over again I would have had less perc and more memory.
I meant to say less will and more mem. :)

Not perception, if you look at it all the Gunnery, Missile and Navigation skills have it as primary, and it is secondary for Drones and maybe something else. It's Willpower that needs some love; it's only primary for Leadership skills and we only have 3 of those in game. Secondary for quite a few but not enough that I've bothered to train Iron Will to L5. Same with charisma, although it will get slightly better when we start seeing more Social skills and Trade skills working.

End your whimpy Amarr char and get yourself a nice and decent Minmatar! ------------------------------------------ When you get close enough to read this line, you are low...
Choose your meaning of low a) passing below the normal level base of measurement b) marking a nadir or bottom <the low point of his career> c) DEAD -- used as a predicate adjective d) socially humble in character or status e) of lesser degree f) of lesser position, rank, or order g) falling short of some standard (mine) h) not advanced in complexity, development, or elaboration |

I will now go back to my cave as my ignorance shines through D'oh. Seems obvious now but didnt chalk extra learning skill to attribs

How are mine?
Charisma:7 Memory:8 Intell:8 Willpower:10 Preception:11
These are my beginning attributes, plus 1 point each with Learning packs. Thus each attribute has the potential to be increased by a minimum of 4 points:
Charisma: 11 Memory: 12 Intell: 12 Will: 14 Preception: 15
I'd like to be a fighter/miner/maybe manufacturer.
I do I have an ok setup? I did this with very little knowledge of the game.
Don't mind me I'm just making suasages! |

CCP should make some way to change your attributes, for instance some kind of operation at a medical facility. It should also be very costly, like 50-100m isk, or perhaps more, considering the price on implants these days. And one should also not be able to change attributes more often than once every 3-4 months or so. That would be a great feature for someone like me at least, that had no clue whatsoever about what i wanted to do in eve when i started, or what the hell those attributes did. Over time i've headed for more and more combat skills. And now, 6m skill points into the game i'm realizing that i have to spend over 50 days to get battleship lvl5, with implants, when friends of mine only spend 35 days to do the same(same time i need to get cruiser lvl5).

I went really low on willpower (4) and put those points into mem and int instead.
Int 9 Charisma 8 Perception 9 Memory 10 Will 4
I'm not intending to be a fighter but it would be nice to be able to hold your own in a furball.
Should I start a new char and put more points into willpower?
Your opinion?

Linkage to EVE-I.com which has an article on train and training times.
The article tell that the training time is: seconds per point = 60/((ability in primary attribute + ability in secondary attribute/2) * (1 + 0.02 * learning skill level))
I.e. that Learning works a bit differently then suggested in this thred in some places. (That Learning is factored at both primary and secondary attributes, depending on what skill you are training) --

with no implants and learning skills l4 i have:
10 int 8 mem 12 carisma 18 perception 15 willpower
skills taht require intel/memory are a pain, charisma aint a big problem, and skills taht require gunnery spaceship command are prety fast to train! i take less than 6 days to train gunnery to l5!

So primary and seconday attributes effect skills equally? __________________________________________________
