sigh 11 intl 14 perc 9 char 16 will 10 mem ...i still dont see why you multiply by the learning skills...if you do that with anything less then a lvl 5 you lose attrs. :/ --

Originally by: Airpizza Primary effects more secondary less.
According to the formula posted,
seconds per point = 60/((ability in primary attribute + ability in secondary attribute/2) * (1 + 0.02 * learning skill level))
primary and seconday are mathematicaly equivalent....unless only the seconday attribute is divided by 2.... __________________________________________________

Edited by: Lord Wimbishi on 18/05/2004 09:24:40 Well this is what I have. I wanted a strong balanced setup myself.
Int 10+5 +3 = 18 Mem 8 +5 +3 = 16 Per 7 +4 +3 = 14 Wil 7 +4 +3 = 14 cha 7 +3 +3 = 13 learning lvl 5
As a note the 'additional' points you visually gain with the learning skill are NOT actualy points. These 'additional' points don't count towards faster training time and wish the DEV's would fix this feature. The learning skill makes the over all skillpoints needed less by what ever percentage you have for that skill. it works something like this. you take your skill points need divided by your skill training score of your primary and half of your secondary then subtract the learning % score from that sum and thus would end up with the base skill points you need to train and which determine how much time is needed to gain the next level. your training score is based as points per minute, and that sum you reach above is how many minutes you would have to finish that skill training time. for example
Joe shmoe has lvl 3 bla blah rank 1 45,000 trained so far and now need up to 256,000 to gain lvl 5. the primary is Int and the secondary is Mem. lets say 18 int and 16 Mem using my scores. subtract 45,000 from 256,000. You end up with 211,000. divide that by your training score 18 + (16 / 2) = 26 you will end up with 8115.3846 forget the rest of the numbers after this fraction. Minus your learning skill percent from this sum and you will end up 7303. This is the total training time you need to get next skill in minutes. to find out further divide it by 60 then by 24 to get the actual time in days it is very accurate. Anyways that is how it is currently done. I don't know if this was the intended purpace for the learning skill but for the most part it is good enough as is. You can go to more detail but would have to relay on pen and paper. If you all really want to make it simple just use EVE-I's skill calculator and do not configure your 'added' bonuss EVE shows for your learning skill itself. :) have fun safe travels

tbh with the first person, if u wanna b a ballenced char i ges that ur skills r ok but if u wanna do summit specific like fighting of mining/refining then ur either gonna wanna make a new chara or stick with the long times to train, the only advice i can give is to get the cybernetics skil and get sum implants asap.

My attributes have high intelligence and high perception.
I dont remember why I made it that way, but I do remember that I wanted to be an engineer. Seems like high int and high memory would be better.
anyway my int and perception are 15 base I believe.
I agree we should be allowed once per year to modify a few attributes. That would enhance our gameplay. It can even be given out as a reward to corps or for some event.
I am always wishing I had higher memory. I'm an R&D guy, what will I need with perception? Its not gonna help with with gun or missile launcher or drone blueprints either.
I guess I'll be one whoop-ass scientist :) but i'd rather be a scientific scientist...
Oh and to those asking if their attributes are good, We can't tell unless we know what you want to be in eve. Your attributes affect only your skill learning time in general. So we need to know what skills you will learn to know if you have an efficient att point distribution.

Not knowing any better I have created a char with really low perception - does this mean that it will just take me longer to learn fighting skills or will I always perform badly compared to someone with the same skill level but with higher perception ?

Itll take longer to train. Someone with 15 perception wont do better than someone with 4 perception if the skills are exactly the same :) --

Thanks Hamatitio - I was hoping that was the case. I dont mind the extra training time but I would have had to restart if it my char would always have been 'disadvantaged'.

Believe it or not, this is my first and only char, i wanted to be a fighter, but after doing a bit of research realised that having a huge amount of perception would help you learn gunnery and ship command but would screw you over for learning other skills, so i made a balanced char (except for charisma), with a slight bias of points towards the combat side, i dont learn any skills at a stupid rate, but i dont take ages to learn any either (unless i want to run a corp that is)
(Pleez note that my base values may be wrong i took my current values and counted backwards) Int = 16 (8+5+3) Perc = 17 (10+4+3) Char = 8 (6+2) Will = 17 (11+3+3) Mem = 16 (8+5+3) I also have learning lvl5
You currently have 86 skills and 9,228,204 skill points
I don't seem to be doing too bad
(Any complaints about my maths or anything mail me ingame and we can come to an "agreement") =============================================

Edited by: Scerenity on 28/05/2004 21:48:34 Been playing for exactly 3 weeks now, my stats are as follows:
Intelligence: 9(+4) = 13 Perception: 8(+3) = 11 Charisma: 8(+0) = 8 Willpower: 4(+3) = 7 Memory: 10(+4)= 14
Skills: 30 SP: ~415k
No implants, int and mem learning up to level 4, rest are level3 and currently being trained to level4. I started off wanting to do manufacturing (though obviously im yet to start that) and mining, which has turned out well. Could've done with charisma less and willpower more, but can't really do much about that when your Gallente :P
