I have read a lot of things regarding nanoships and speed on the forums. In fact i think that there should be a limit to mad speed setup of some ships, and no, webifiers are not a speed nerf because many of the nano ships fight out of the web range.
So what about some sort of structure limit?
You are FREE to boost your ship at the speed you want, but when you breach the limit of your ship, you begin to take damage over armor and structure.
Let make an example:
Vagabond will have a speed limit of 2100 m/s. If a pilot break this limit, all the time he maintain the craft over this speed he will get heavy damage on armor and hull.
Numbers are for example so they have to be fixed, but this is the general idea.

That's one possibility. Another could be to cut MWD down by 50%, giving ships roughly a 250% speed boost. Overheating them would double that. Bringing them back up to todays speeds. So if you really feel the need to hit those speed, overextend those MWD's and burn away. _________

Vaga capped at 2100m/s? Umm. . . I can make a Caracal go faster than that. Easily. The Vagabond's sole purpose in life is to go really fast, and try to avoid the 10-13km zone of death around whatever its trying to kill today.

Did you even read the part where he said the numbers were just an example? Way to make yourself look bad.
I think its definitely an idea to be looked at, as well as the over heating one.

Even if we maintain these numbers, vaga will be not capped at 2100. 2100 will be the speed limit and if you go over this speed, you CAN, but you take damage, so you have to be fast to go down under 2100 after your fast move.
Also, all your point that vaga cannot tank, vaga deal poor damage or anythign else is worthless cause actually vaga can disengange from anything and no one can deal damage to it expect if the pilot is a dumbass

I don't fly Vaga's, but 2100ms before damage is crazy. Maybe 4000ms. No one cares about a vaga doing 4kms, people whine about Vagas doing 12kms.
The extend of damage should be gradual aswell if this system is to be executed. Small damage at first but gradually more and more. Maybe add new modules to increase structural integrity of the ship to resist this type of damage, low slot module.

It ain't broken so why try to fix it?
A good nanosetup costs alot of ISK and can be totally negated/raped by a huginn or a rapier. It's just a question of bringing the right countersetup AND tactics (wich CVA has proven several times over the last month).
A vaga is as useless against a huginn as a dread vs a scorpion. Rock, paper, scissors anyone?
There's only one sig that matters... and that's Radius. |

That is one possible way to stop it. one point I have is I think it should be greater the more you go over limit.
eg. limit is 10km/s 11km/s u take 5 damage 12km/s u take 12 damage 13km/s u take 20 damage etc.
the other question I have is what the damage would be done to. would it be the hull ripping apart, the shield holding the ship together or the armour falling to pieces... or a combination.
