Comparing average wages without factoring in price levels is pretty worthless. Sure, the average wage in Norway is almost $60'000 (compared to $38'000 in the US), but with significantly higher prices on pretty much everything, the difference in everyday life isn't that big to the average person.
Ofc, the reverse is also true, comparing price levels without concidering average income levels is equally pointless.

Why would anyone live down under, my sister lives in Brisbane and they are only allowed to have 4 minute showers due to water shortages. Plus all that sun with no ozone layer not good for the skin!

GDP is a pretty dull way of measuring "living standard".
Personally I'd be much happier to read that social mobility was increasing for a change

Norway has a far better living standard then Britain can ever hope for. Besides, the UK has the highest teenager pregnancy rate in the whole world
