I am a gallente, and the rest of my friends are caldari. We are planning on doing missions in fleet and I was wondering about the negative effects that might have on my standing with the gallente.
Is it viable to just screw gallente alltogheter? I can use Caldari LP shops right?
I know we can just complete the mission without me getting the LP, but I don't want to be left out in the cold with no LP's comming in

You get the LP regardless of your race. However, you might ruin the standings with your own faction, meaning you can do no more missions for them (and in the worst case no longer enter their space). But don't worry, I am Caldari and run for Khanid Kingdom.

Derived standing modification isn't so bad, easily fixable by doing some Gallente missions, but it'll be a looong time before you need to do that.
What really hurts your faction standing is killing ships and structures of that faction, i.e. in your case mostly the mission Enemies Abound 1 through 4 out of 5. You could just volunteer to do the salvaging for that mission series, and not shoot at Gallente ships, and you won't have much to worry about.
The point of no return is an unmodified standing of -5. Training the skill Diplomacy to lvl 5 will make a base standing of -4.9 go above -2. -2 effective standing is the point where you can no longer work for agents of that faction. So as long as you keep it your effective above -2 you can always go do some Gallente missions to get back in their graces.
Of course, that "point of no return" isn't really it, if you can't do Gallente but can still do Minmatar, you can work through Minmatar to raise Gallente, but that's much slower.
