We want to anchor a POS in high sec space.
We have a corp member with a +7 standing to Gallente Federation. If we were to leave him in the corp is it possible for his standings to reset the current faction standing we have, with the standings he has? Allowing us to anchor in 0.7
Or would it be better for him to start a new corp and we all join when he get's standing up and anchors a tower?
Can some one answer this or point me to some information regarding Faction standings and high empire POS anchoring? Thanks

I'd like to know this too. I got a nasty surprise the other day when I tried to anchor a control tower in High Sec (can't do it due to low faction standing.) It never mentioned a standing requirement in the POS guide, and the module info itself doesn't say anything about that. Fortunately I was able to sell-order the tower back and recouped all but one mil of the original investment.
How on Earth do you acquire the type of faction standing needed for POS anchoring? I've run countless missions for Minmatar and my standing with them is still insufficient for High Sec anchoring.

Normal missions don't budge empire standing, it's the storyline missions that do. So you can do 50,000 normal missions and empire standing wont move 0.00001. Run a few dozen storyline missions and empire standing is improved to you personally.
Problem with high sec standing is that it's your CORP standings not personal standings that matter.
Get one person with negative standings in your corp to the empire and you might as well forget it.

Thanks Braaage thats a good site.
However i want to know if we leave the guy with the good Faction standing in the existing corp will his standings over write the existing standings to give the corp the +7 faction standing?
Or does it not work that way?

Yes it will eventually, the guy left in the corp needs to run missions and then get and do a storyline mission before the personal standings move to corp standings.
Then over progressive downtimes the corp standing will rise up and eventually match the personal standing. -- eve-guides.com All about POSs, Outposts, Exploration, Mining, Invention, EVE Database + much more!! |

So his existing +7 faction standing wont be taken into account?

Yes it will be but it wont just all transfer to corp standing overnight, it "trickles" into the corp standing.
But he needs to do a storyline mission to kick off the "trickle". -- eve-guides.com All about POSs, Outposts, Exploration, Mining, Invention, EVE Database + much more!! |

It will, he just needs to run ONE storyline to trigger the change. It takes about a week or so for the standings to move completely. _______________ Pwett CEO, Founder, & Executor <Q> QUANT Hegemony

So I get what everyone is saying here, but I do have another question regarding standings. Even though I have a 3.00 standing with the Minmatar Republic, my one-man corp somehow only has 0.44 standing with them. What's up with that?
Also, when I tried to anchor a tower last night in Amarr space, it said I couldn't do it because I had a -2 standing with the Amarr. This is correct as far as my personal standing with them, but my corp has 0.00 standing with them... so again, what's up with that? Why are they looking at corp standings for one part of the anchoring issue but personal standings for another, and is it possible that my corp standings are actually displaying incorrectly?

You should note that it is you base standings that are taken into acct when calculating corp standings not the modified standings after the connections/diplomacy skill. Open the corp window click on the politics tab then on the standings tab then right click on a faction and click show compositions to see what your true current corp standings with that faction are plus all the corp members standings that contribute to it.
For a .4 system you need a 4.0 standing with the npc faction that controls that system a .5 you need 5.0 a .6 you need 6.0 and a .7 you need 7.0.

Two other bits of info. 1) You can have ceo of corp make an alt as corp holder. The alt's has no faction and will not be calculated towards the DT average. Just don't run any of the tutorial missions, they give small hits. 2) If your alt dosent have the skills to anchor or haul tower, then just have your main rejoin corp to do it. You have until next DT.

on the same topic, another question: If you pay to get your 1 man corp standing upto say 7.0, and then have the main CEO join who has a faction standing of 0.0, will the corp standing change if he does no missions at all? Also, do you need the standings to anchor or online the pos, so say if I ran out of fuel, would I be in trouble getting it back online?

Edited by: Jessamine on 07/01/2008 19:59:53 1. You only need the standing to anchor, if it goes offline no prob. Also this standing is only needed to anchor the TOWER. You can anchor other structures at will regardless.
2. If the only other members of the corp have NO standing then they will not be counted in the average. That doesn't mean their standing reads as 0.0 or 'Neutral'. It means THE FACTION DOES NOT APPEAR IN EITHER 'LIKED BY' OR 'DISLIKED BY'. Period.
2a. After 7 days have elapsed from the last completion of a storyline mission by a corp member, the standings will cease shifting. This means you could get the standings where you like and after 7 days of no storylines, bring in all the members you want. The corp -> faction standings won't budge so long as no member runs a storyline mission.
3. After DT the standings are recalculated with the corp standing rising ~26.5%* of the difference between it's current point and the aggregate of all members. This means if you start a corp and you have 7.00 with Caldari for example, and there are no other members in the corp then after downtime you should have a standing of 1.855 corp -> faction.
*I am still gathering data on the rising percentage, consider this a good number ot jump fomrbased on my experience in corp creation
4. Contact me if you would like a corp created, check the thread in the signature (click the image)
