I'm convinced it's a nerd thing. Throwing any python reference into any sufficiently large grouping of people above a certain age on the internet is like matches into petrol.
Not just lumberjacks, but parrots and african swallows as well.

Oh yes. I can highly recommend what I did once - watch The Quest for the Holy Grail (or whatever strikes your fancy) with a bunch of equally nerdy friends, plus one person who has never seen anything by Monty Python. It's quite an experience to see the puzzled look on that person's face. At first she didn't understand why we started laughing before the jokes, but after a while she figured it out and asked "you've seen this movie before, haven't you?" - "nah, only about fifty times..."
Other things that gets me going are large wooden badgers (if I was a lumberjack I would build one), crucifixion procedures and the ministry of silly walks.

Look, I'm British. I like lumberjacks. It's perfectly normal. I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition to be called in because of it.
